From gotgame.com: The Most Dangerous Halloween Costumes for a Gamer

Halloween is a time of year when gamer imaginations can run rampant. How could a fan turn down an opportunity for cosplay outside of a con without those nasty judgmental snickers from the outside world? Truly, Halloween is the ideal holiday for gamers to be their dorkiest, but it can also be the most dangerous if their fashion sense is askew. Thus, I bring to you a list of game-related costumes that you should not attempt under any circumstances …

GamerStatus: ASD Previews “Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party” for Nintendo Wii

by Oscar Pascual

This week, SF game developer UbiSoft invited ASD to attend a preview of the upcoming Nintendo Wii exclusive, Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party. This third installment of their humor-filled party franchise promises to be the first game you can play with your butt, although we like our gaming in the form of the traditional sedentary, ass-fattening variety. Nevertheless, the fun-factor of TV Party seemed hard to resist for any gamer, so we had to check it out.

Unlike the beer-swilling Monday Night Football get-togethers made famous by Black Flag’s original “TV Party,” UbiSoft’s TV Party is much more engaging and active, with over 60 mini-games that will have you and three friends flailing your limbs about in ridiculous fashion.

Wireless guitar for Wii is recalled by manufacturer

by David Sheets

Owners of the Rage Wireless Guitar, a peripheral controller for the Nintendo Wii game system and sold by Performance Designed Products Inc., should stop using the devices due to a risk of chemical burns from them.

PDP and the Consumer Product Safety Commission jointly issued a recall notice Wednesday covering all Rage Wireless Guitars sold between June and September — about 57,000 of them. A circuit-board defect can cause the controller’s double-AA batteries to leak if the batteries are not installed properly.

At least one gamer has been injured as a result, PDP says.

The Rage Wireless Guitar was designed for the Wii version of “Guitar Hero.” It’s about 30 inches long, costs between $40 and $60, comes in blue or white and has small lights in the fret buttons along the guitar’s neck. The guitars were manufactured in China.

Owners are asked to return the controller/guitars to the place they were purchased for a full refund. Nintendo is not involved in the recall and should not be contacted.

Original story can be found here (SLTtoday.com)

Some additional comments by Reizo . . .

This guitar was meant to be a cool, stylish guitar for Nintendo. Due to battery leak, its become a Chaos. I for one, would’ve bought, and I’m really sad about the outcome of this guitar. Hopefully, Nintendo will take more precautions next time, yet they should keep in mind this guitar style and use it.

Muahahahahahaha!

Game Party 2 Wii Review
From dbtechno.co

Game Party 2 Wii Review
Publisher: Midway Games
Developer: Midway Games
Players: 1-4

Midway Games has released a new compilation of games on the Nintendo Wii in the form of Game Party 2. With plenty of games here, is this a must- buy for Wii Sports fans, or something you should avoid?
Game Party 2 has released on the Nintendo Wii and features 11 games in all which are actually pretty fun once you get into them.

Some of the games, I have to admit, are not all that fun on this compilation. The first one that comes to mind is Skill-ball, as th egame just does not seem to work due to the fact that the controls are very unpredictable.I would consider Game Party 2 to be more like an improved version of Wii Play, as there are some great new additions to this release, some quality games to play, and some fun to be had when the whole family or friends are together.

Graphics: 7.0 The graphics are nothing that will impress. Simple, but they work.

Audio: 6.0 The audio aspect is disappointing here as it does little to set a party atmosphere.

Gameplay: 6.5
Out of the 11 games on the disc, I would say 7 or 8 are really fun to play, which is good considering some other compilations out there.

Replay Value: 7.0
Game Party 2 has a lot of replay value if you play the Wii with friends or family. Not recommended for gamers playing alone.

Final Score: 6.8

What Reizo has to say:

Game Party is a supposed better version, than Wii Sports. It has wii-mote interaction, making it a wii-only game. The purpose of the game is to keep the gamer active, with 11 games. The game shouldn’t be played alone, since its more of a family and friends kind-of game. Its cost is pretty reasonable, which is 30$, in the US. Hopefully, it will be more fun than wii-sports

Nintendo Wii Review: Wario Land - Shake It!

Nintendo Wii Review: Wario Land - Shake It!
Written by Tall Writer
Published October 16, 2008

Wario Land: Shake It! is a traditional 2D platformer with appealing, hand drawn animation and dynamic backgrounds that players maneuver through with a sideways orientation of the Wii remote. This orientation brings back some classic Nintendo System console memories (even more if the remote was slimmer… maybe a special version is on the way, which other games could also incorporate).

Wario must defeat five boss levels (each with four stages) then take back the sack from The Shake King. Each level has various missions and three treasure chests to find amid the simple left to right movement schemes, which fits the control scheme perfectly.

Developers demonstrate the controls by doing as players complete each action themselves in a nice introduction. Various remote shakes can stun baddies (no deaths in this land), retrieve money, move objects and huge quakes. Butt stomps are fun and effective among the mostly shallow learning curve. The game has a high replay value full of hidden paths and objects to be found and times and coin tallies to increase. Other unlockables include music tracks (a definite plus for variety), secret level maps and various upgrades.

As you can see, Wario Land: Shake it, is one of nintendo’s finest. The game shows Wario in his simple 2D form, since its one aspect that makes Wario unique in a game. The game being reviewed, showed to be an excellent game. The most important aspect in my opinion, is that its rated E. Which is important, since most Wii gamers are younger one’s. =)

Its a must buy from Nintendo.

FROM IGN.COM:
Naruto: Path of the Ninja 2 Hands-on

We continue our quest to become Hokage

by Mark Bozon

… Path of the Ninja 2 offers far more for users, including a much larger cast of playable characters, more visual effects, a deeper story, and online play. Last year was the warm-up; this year is the full-fledged design.

The gameplay isn’t too different from what we saw a month back in our pre-E3 coverage, so you’ll use either the touch screen or D-pad to input attacks during battle, use rub or tap mini-games to power up jutsu attacks, and roam around the overworld in classic “random battle” fashion, using either the D-pad or touch to control your team leader. After experimenting with both, the D-pad is hands-down the way to go, though it’s easy enough to use your finger for touch controls when in battles.

The new Naruto game has most of the characters seen in the TV series.

The gameplay is as innovative as DS gaming can get. With even more jutsu’s, characters and an even wider playing area. The game takes place with Naruto at Leaf Village, while you continue you will see it is more like the series than ever.

The most important figure is that the story extends to where we actually stayed in the series. It may be the second game for this RPG series, but it has evolved into an amazing outcome for nintendo.
