Guitar Hero: World Tour Review

Written By SuperQ

You hear about Guitar Hero at school; it seems as though half the school claims they can play the hardest song on Expert. The current version of the game, however, steps it up a notch. It adds two more instruments to the mix, and steps up the number of songs, making this the most time-consuming Guitar Hero ever.
Downloading songs has never been made easier. With two methods of downloading songs, one Free of charge, and another mostly costing Wii Points. I say mostly, because the method I am talking of is called the Song Store. It isn’t a Pay to Play title for nothing! I plan to buy a song in the near future, but I imagine it being virtually the same as GHTunes. Like iTunes, only it’s free. Get it? GH stands for Guitar Hero…

Heh. Anyway, this is very easy to do. In fact, they have a lot of video game music on there, made by fellow owners. You see, you can create music in the music studio. Which is another feature, and upload it directly to the GHTunes database. I haven’t been able to get used to the feature yet, actually, as it is very difficult to master. The controls on this feature are very awkward, and don’t feel right. But, master it, and you could have your song be in the Top 100, or downloaded by thousands! Or both. But, to play these songs, you have to have 200 blocks open on your Wii Console (No SD cards) to play them. Sure, you can store them on an SD card, but you can only play them by having them copied, then deleted automatically. It’s an easy process, if you don’t mind cleaning out the fridge.

Another new feature is the Create a Rocker mode. You can actually create an in-game avatar of yourself, or someone else, and actually use them in game. They thought of virtually everything for this one; you can customize the color and style of your hair, right down to the celebrations of getting though a song. Although, it could use some more hairstyles, and it is pretty tough to get the coloring on things just the way you want. Oh, and the body proportions you have to choose from aren’t varied enough.

But, the main part of this game is the music, right? The song choices are great, from old favorites like ‘Crazy Train’, to newer works, such as ‘Misery Business’. Plus, with over eighty songs, and thousands more that you can download, as mentioned above.

The instruments are great as well; this is my first console Guitar Hero, but my experience with the instruments has made me want to buy the next installment in the franchise already. Anyway, the microphone is a little iffy; for one thing, the microphone seems a little too awkward. You have to have an extra Wii Remote for it to navigate menus, and such, even though it is a USB, and you have to plug it into the Wii itself.

The guitar is great too; the Star Power button is nicely placed, and new additions, such as the touch pad, are a welcome bonus, and fun to boot. Plus, it’s fun showing others how you can actually strum with the touch pad, as opposed to using the strum bar.

Now, the clincher for a lot of people, including me, to buy the full band kit; the drums. The drums are very precise for a lot of people, including me again, and they can also be very fun to play. But, only having this for days, the drum sticks look battered up. This may be my fault, but this should have been anticipated. Another beef I have with the drums is that is more difficult to move than the other two instruments, as the bass pedal included dangles from a cord when you pick it up, besides the obvious reason is that it is the largest of the three peripherals. But, overall, this is my personal favorite.

As my closing statement, I would say this is a great buy for those of you who enjoy music, or gaming in general. If you want to learn how to play a guitar or drums, this game can be your training wheels. I use this very loosely for the guitar, but this can be very useful for new users. I recommend this game to everyone who wants a good time, especially with friends over. The steep price pays for itself in no time.

Final Score: 8.5/10

Day 3: Shine Them Shoes!

by SuperQ
Well, today I played in two shorter bursts; but I believe the difference in time and afternoon is an important part of Animal Crossing, so here is a blog of my day! Oh, and I will also be home all weekend, so expect a huge blog then.
So, in the morning, there was virtually nothing to do. The shops in the city were closed, Nook’s Cranny was closed as well, so I went lurking around my town. There are trees everywhere! Seriously, there’s one obstructing my path to get to my house! I wish Nook’s would sell me an ax already. So, I take out a shovel I buried last night, and pulled out a golden shovel! Hoorah! So, out of boredom, I hit rocks with them. A pill bug came off of one, so I immediately took out my net, and caught it. Hoorah. Nook’s wasn’t open yet, so I headed over to the Museum, and donated it. I later decided to look at it in the museum.

For the rest of the morning, I walked around, and occasionally stopped by my renovated home. It’s way bigger. I want to do it again soon.

For the second half of my adventure, I walked out of my house at around 4:00 PM. Everything was open. So, I went fishing. It was fun; seriously, I caught like 15 fish. Oh, and I caught this funny shot of a flying fish.

There is no line visible attatched to the fish. It scored me a big bag of 5010 Bells! Schweet! After earning all those bells, I… You guessed it. Went to the city! While there, I saw a lonely skunk sitting all alone. Apparently, he can change the color of shoes! So, I paid him some of my moolah, and BAM! Colored shoes.

I’ll bet you’re wondering why I have so few bells in that picture; well, I got an invitation from a local resident; Mac! So, I brought 3,000 Bells as membership, and I am now a member! Cool. Now, after that, I headed on over to the theater, and learned all other emotions. Here’s where it gets funny; I can only know 5 emotions at one time. So, I went and deleted one. Stupid, yes. So, I finally went back to my town, and waited for something to happen. Nothing happened. Maybe I should invite someone over…
