Tony Hawk: RIDE’s Board Peripheral, Is a Big Deal, To Be White

July 16, 2009 by Quinten Vaughan

Looking forward to the Wii Balance Board clo-  I mean, the Tony Hawk skateboard peripheral?  Well, you should, according to Activision.  According to them, the board “is the most advanced peripheral on the market. It really is going to usher a next generation of controllers for games.”  Is it really that big of a deal?  I mean, with all three consoles supporting motion control eventually, is this really needed?  The Wii already has the Balance Board, and Natal will eliminate the need for a board.

Also, they had something to say about the color of the final product; take a look:

“The board we’ve shown so far is like the Darth Vader of skateboards, it’s not the finished peripheral. We’re going with a white board which is more consumer friendly. It’s much more iPod-like for want of a better term. With the white one people inadvertently step on it, but they don’t do that with the black one. That’s part of the industrial design of the board, to make sure people know it’s a skateboard, but it also looks friendly.”

Wow, they really looked in on this…  I personally think its current, black color will be nicer…  I mean, the iPod Touch and the iPhone seem more successful than the standard iPods right now, but hey…  People don’t buy the game just for the color.  That would be ridiculous.
