Halo: Reach Drops Bombs At Comic-Con 2010

Comic-Con was abuzz last night with Microsoft showing off their baby, Halo: Reach, while dropping a few mega-tons on us in the process.

If you remember correctly we told you that there was a rumor swirling about Microsoft releasing a Halo: Reach Xbox 360 bundle in September. Looks like the internets were right again!

Microsoft officially confirmed that Halo: Reach will come bundled with a 250GB Xbox 360 Slim, two wireless controllers, and cables. The package will run you $400/£249, however Microsoft did announce that the bundle would only be available in the UK at GAME and GameStation.

Microsoft also announced that the multiplayer mode, Firefight, will be returning for Halo: Reach. Firefight made its first appearance in Halo 3: ODST last year. It's not exactly the same old Firefight though, a new play type was revealed called "Gruntpocalypse", it's basically a Grunt horde, in your face...you'll probably die. The other new play type revealed was "Versus Firefight", which lets you play on the Covenant side of things. All the maps for the multiplayer mode will be taken from the campaign.

MS then confirmed that Forge 2.0 would be rearing its massive head, once again. It's an editing tool used to create and edit your own maps. Forge has been upgraded and updated to include more of just about everything.

A couple of new videos are below that detail Forge 2.0 a bit better and an unboxing of Halo: Reach...go nuts.

It's out September 14 worldwide only for the Xbox 360.

Old Cole Returns!

And the peasants rejoice! Sucker Punch announced late yesterday that amidst negative feedback from their loyal followers after the unveiling of the "new" Cole from inFamous 2 in Game Informer's reveal a couple of months ago, they will be bringing "old" Cole back.

Speaking at their Comic-Con 2010 panel, SP pretty much confirmed that Cole's look from the first inFamous title would be returning.

Apparently IGN has seen the new look for themselves but is refusing to share...just kidding, they've seen it they just don't have any pictures of it.

There is a new video from inFamous 2 showing the game's comic-styled cut scenes, get it through the "IGN" link.

The game is out next year for the PS3.

New Dragon Age 2 Concept Artwork

BioWare has released some new concept artwork for their upcoming sequel, Dragon Age 2. It's a single piece of art, but art none-the-less.

Not quite sure what relation the picture has to anything in general, but it's pretty badass by its lonesome.

The game is out in March next year for the PS3, 360, and PC.

Fight Night: Champion Announced For 2011

EA Sports has announced Fight Night: Champion for a 2011 release on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. It's being developed by EA Vancouver who claims the game's biggest selling point will be a new single-player mode that will "break the mold of what is expected in a single-player sports game. Players will be introduced to an entirely new way to step between the ropes and experience the drama, emotion, excitement and tragedy of world championship boxing."

In an interview with IGN, EA Sports' Brian Hayes said that there will be roughly 60-65 fighters in the game. A new gameplay feature called "The Full Spectrum Punch" has also been added to the game allowing for more realistic knockouts.

EA is supposed to be unveiling more new games later today, so be on the lookout for that.

Assassin's Creed Multiplayer Here To Stay?

Assassin's Creed Multiplayer Here To Stay?

In a recent interview with Videogamer, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood associate producer, Jean-Francois Boivin said that if he has anything to say about it, multiplayer in AC titles is here to say.

"It is speculation, but I think we've done a really good job doing the multiplayer, and there's a lot of room for expansion in that universe, so I see a multiplayer component being there for a long time."

There have been rumblings that too much attention has been spent on Assassin's Creed's multiplayer, detracting from the game's story. Well, Boivin has something to say about that too;

"I think there's this dichotomy in the gaming world, that the people who are sold to multiplayer don't care about single-player, and the people who are sold to single-player don't necessarily care about multiplayer. The wink we give to that in our universe is that the single-player [game] is Assassins, and the multiplayer is The Templars," he explained.

"I think in the end we're giving a lot to the single-player, because we're giving a full single-player campaign - so they won't feel cheated with Brotherhood, because they had what they wanted."

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood releases in November for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC.

Infinity Ward/Treyarch Deny Subscription For Call Of Duty Online

If you remember correctly, yesterday we brought you a video of some guys playing Modern Warfare 2 and coming across a subscription screen prompting them to pay for online play. Well, now Activision developers Infinity Ward and Treyarch have come out and denied that there will be anything of the sort.

Infinity Ward community manager, Robert Bowling recently tweeted;

"For the record, nobody has to pay to play COD or MW2 multiplayer, nor will they."

Then, Josh Olin, Treyarch's community manager chimed in saying;

"No, you will not have to 'Pay to Play' #CODBlackOps Multiplayer either. Rumor -> Squashed."

There you have it, straight from the horses mouths.

Kojima Working On New "Adventure" Title

According to a project collaborator Chiyomaru Shikura, Hideo Kojima of Metal Gear Solid lore, is currently working on a brand new "adventure" title.

Chiyomaru Shikura is the head of 5pb, a Japanese media company which specializes in erotic and dating sim-type games. Kojima has said that he wants to branch out in the video game industry and has said that if he flubs up his next project that he will leave the industry for good.

It's long been speculated that Kojima has been working on Zone of the Enders 3 but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. Kojima has also said that he is seriously considering working on Metal Gear Solid 5 but hasn't made up his mind yet.

Either way, I'm excited to see what's next from Mr. Metal Gear himself.

Ghost Recon: Predator Details Surface

The ESRB has outed the first details from the upcoming PSP title, Ghost Recon: Predator. The game has not officially been announced, but has been rated "Teen" by the US video game ratings system.

Here's the full ESRB listing:

"This is an action game/third-person shooter in which players engage in combat missions as part of an elite military unit. Players use a variety of machine guns, sniper rifles, grenades, and explosives to infiltrate hostile compounds and kill enemies. Gun fights are depicted realistically, with loud gun sound effects, large explosions, and characters that yell in pain when hit. Gunshots result in splashes or small clouds of red blood that disappear quickly. Characters use the words "sh*t," "b*tch," and "a*s" in the dialogue."

So there you go, don't say we didn't warn you.

Sharp Unveils New/Larger Blu Ray Disc

Sharp unveiled a brand new Blu ray disc today in Japan totaling 100GB of information. The normal Blu ray discs that we use in our Blu ray players, PS3's, and such only total 50GB of data.

Normal Blu ray discs are double layered which allows them to hold the current maximum 50GB of info, these new Sharp Blu rays would introduce a third layer allowing for two times the normal storage.

The downside of these new Blu ray's is that they are not compatible with current-gen Blu ray players, thus you would need to replace your players in order to play them. Looks like this is where movies and games are headed, but not for another couple of years at least.
