Best Games of The Decade
October 20, 2009 by meatwad420
Don’t forget about the 360 price cuts as well. Especially with the critically acclaimed MW2 releasing in less then 30 days. A week after that, Valve will release L4D2, the sequel to the most epic zombie shooter ever made. MW2 will be a multi-platform release, but L4D2 is PC/360 exclusive.
As the countdown continues, let’s look back at some of the greatest and most memorial games of the past decade.
Nintendo:
The Legend of Zelda : Twilight Princess

Pretty much everyone who knows of this legendary game series got everyone excited for buying a Wii. Who cares if it had a GC port? MOTION CONTROLS BABY! For those of you who know me, you KNOW I hate on Nintendo and how stupid they are nowadays, but Twilight Princess WAS the reason I bought a Wii in the first place.
It’s hard to make a crappy Zelda game, but it’s also hard to make a Zelda game that compares to the greatest game of all time, The Ocarina of Time. Twilight Princess doesn’t surpass OoT as the greatest Zelda of all time, but it is definently right behind it.
With the confirmation that a Wii exclusive Zelda is on the way, it has everyone waiting in excitement for Link’s next adventure.
Metroid Prime 3 : Corruption

Easily the best FPS available on the Wii. Metroid Prime 3 is one of the most innovative FPS games ever made thanks to the unique motion controls the Wii has to offer, and how they implemented them in this game.
With the recent release of the entire Prime series to the Wii as a bundle, you couldn’t ask for more of a bargain for the ultimate FPS experience. MP3:C is easily the best game available for the Wii, even though the storyline doesn’t make a lick of sense. If you didn’t get to experience the first two Prime games, get your hands on the Prime trilogy bundle this holiday season. You won’t regret it.
Super Mario Galaxy

SMG showed what the little Wii could do in terms of creating spectacular graphics. SMG is also one of the most innovative platformers ever made, featuring a universe that defys the law of physics as Mario once again tries to save Mushroom Kingdom from his worst enemy, Bowser. Complete with incredible levels, and a storyline that does pull somewhat at your emotions surprisingly, SMG is definently an experience that all Wii owners must experience. With SMG2 making it’s debut in 2010, what’s not to be excited about?

Mario Kart Wii
It’s so Mario that he would appear on this list twice, only this time he proves his awesomness on the race track. The reason MKWii is on this list is because of how successful they were on making a perfect online game considering how attroicious Nintendo WFC really is. Featuring a ton of unlockable content, 16 new tracks and 16 retro tracks rethought and rebuilt, and an extremely impressive smooth 12 player MP experience, you couldn’t ask for a better deal for replay value and multiplayer madness then what MKWii offers for the Wii.
XBOX 360:
Gears of War

Gears of War made a name for itself when it hit the market. One of the most visually stunning games ever created, GoW is a completely chaotic third person shooter experience, where humanity itself faces extinction against the Locust threat. Featuring a crouch/cover/run system complete with an arsenal of awesome weapons (LANCER!!!), this game series is a must own.
That’s right, remember it’s sequel? Well, not all of us really want to remember the sequel considering how weak the ending of the campaign was, but the multiplayer experience is one of the best out there for the 360. If you have yet to shred an enemy with a Lancer, please…go get this game.
Dead Space

Two words come to mind when I think of this game : HOLY ****! Dead Space is by far the freakiest game ever created. The game takes place on a completely empty space ship in the middle of nowhere in space, and there’s no one coming to help you. It just so happens that this ship is crawling with aliens that has ripped everyone limb to limb, and you just so happen to be looking for your wife. Dead Space is also innovative in offering a HUD system for the inventory, making it to where you never leave the game just to switch weapons or items. This game had my heart racing and had me jumping so much that I would even put this in the top 3 games of the decade. CHECK THIS GAME OUT!!
Call of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare

If you’re not excited for MW2, then you never played CoD4. This game has one of the most epic campaigns, and offers the best multiplayer shooter experience. The fan base behind this game is ridiculous, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see if MW2 absolutely shreds the records Halo 3 set when it came out.
Left 4 Dead

Valve created a gem. When I first saw the movie 28 Days Later, I thought to myself, "Man, they need to make a video game EXACTLY like this." And whaddaya know? They friggin’ did, and it happens to be one of the most innovative shooters ever made. Featuring an insane spawning system that throws 50+ zombies at you at a time in one spawning, L4D is a game that focuses on co-op. If you don’t play smart and play together, you are DOOMED for failure in this game, whether you’re playing as the Survivors or the Infected. Yes, that’s right. You get to play as the Special Infected in a 4on4 Versus mode. Offering 4 Campaigns, Versus, and Survival mode, L4D is a must own game for any PC or 360 owner. With the sequel right around the corner, I’d start saving them dollars.
Bioshock

In my opinion, the greatest game ever made. Bioshock is one of the most visually stunning games ever made, and the package is completed with innovative gameplay and an incredibly twisted storyline that keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. If you have yet to visit Rapture, now is the best time. You can buy this for 29.99, or get a bundle including Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion for 59.99. I’d go with the 2 legends for 60 bucks…great deal.
Seriously folks…THE GREATEST GAME EVER MADE. Forget what I said about OoT! This is where it’s at! Get on it!
Braid

I know what you’re thinking. You really think that an arcade title doesn’t belong on here? Think again. Braid is one of the most beautiful games ever created, and it features a very interesting plot and dialogue. You play Tim, a man who is on a quest to save the Princess. As you play through the beautifully drawn world of Braid, and collect the pieces from his past, you begin to realize that Tim isn’t quite who he seems to be.

Welcome to Post-Apocalyptic America, Wastelander. With the GOTY edition recently released, this is definently in the top 3 games of the decade. Bethesda Studios, the creators of Oblivion, created a world that gamers will never forget; a game where the American capital of D.C. lays in radioactive ruins. You are on a journey to find your father, and while on your journey, you will run into many interesting side quests that'll keep you exploring all over the Virginia Wasteland. This game is PACKED with replay value, so don't miss out on it.
PS3:
Metal Gear Solid 4
Solid Snake's PS3 debut left all of us with our jaws dropped. This visually stunning game (or should I say movie) was just a peak at what the PS3 is truly capable of. Not to mention it's freaking METAL GEAR! Who doesn't want to be the most elite espionage super soldier on the face of the Earth?
Uncharted
Yeah, that game that released last week that is being hailed as "a masterpiece?" Yeah, it's the sequal to this great game. Drake's Fortune quickly made it's name as one of the most thrilling games available for the PS3, so you can see why the sequel has been such a hit thus far. If you haven't walked in Drake's shoes yet, give it a try. You'll find yourself in plenty of excitement with the odds stacked against you.
LittleBigPlanet
Sackboy! Everybody's favorite new mascot! Hell, I'd say he's even cooler then Mario! Even his universe is cooler then the Mushroom Kingdom! Yep, Sony surely had an answer for the platformer genre competition, and Sackboy delivers in every category. Sure, he's new in the business, but you'll warm up to him in no time. Absolutely brilliant.
Killzone 2
When you think of elite shooters, 3 games come to mind. CoD4, GoW, and KillZone 2. If you've played all three, you would know that Killzone 2 is easily at the top of the list. Featuring an intense campaign, and one of the best multiplayer experiences available for the PS3, Killzone 2 is a must own for all PS3 owners.
Team Fortress 2
Counter Strike Source
Guild Wars
World of Warcraft
Half Life 2
