Wiispace First Look: Wii Sports Resort- Part 5
July 25, 2009 by Quinten Vaughan · 1 Comment

Well, this is it; we’re finished today, with a special three-category day, to celebrate the last day of this miniseries, and Wii Sports Resort Eve. Be sure to be there bright and early tomorrow morning to pick up your copy, and if needed, more MotionPluses. My sources tell me that many stores have copies already, just waiting to be sold tomorrow, so get a good night’s sleep, and if you’re still on the fence whether or not to purchase this game, then wait for our review, coming shortly after the game’s release. Without further ado, we introduce you to our final categories, including the longly anticipated Swordplay!
Swordplay
Duel

Can’t wait for Red Steel? Want 1:1 swords now? Well, Swordplay is finally here. Tilt the sword left in real time? At the exact same time, your Mii will mimic it onscreen. With B changing your sword to a blocking position, that’s all you need to know. In Duel, you take the fight to a friend, or fight with a computer. It’s like sumo wrestling with swords; if you step off of the ring, you lose. I say off and not outside because once you fall off, you fall off into the ocean. It’s pretty far down, especially since you are wearing heavy armor… But that’s not part of the game. Use a combination of hits and blocks to knock your opponent into the deep, blue world below.

Wiispace First Look: Wii Sports Resort- Part 4
July 24, 2009 by Quinten Vaughan · 2 Comments

Hello everyone. I’d like to welcome you to the last two-part sport category, before the 3-part finale tomorrow. I hope you’ve had as much fun reading them as I have had writing. Remember to read the review I will be posting shortly after the game’s release on Sunday! Oh, and if you plan on getting the game, and playing multiplayer, then get an extra or two before the game’s actually out, because I predict it will sell out quickly. Without further ado, Golf, and Power Cruising!
Golf
Golf

Golfing was boring in the original; face it. You never played that. It’s boring. Why’d they bring it back? Well, for the same reason they brought back Bowling; Wii MotionPlus. Althouh, unlike Bowling, Golf one has one game mode going for it. That’s , not necessarily a bad thing. Plus, you get new holes, plus the old ones from the original, with actual Wii MotionPlus controls! This accessory allows for, well, much more precide controls than the original, and it even adds a more precise power meter to help predict your swings more accurately. I suggest that if you want a Wii MotionPlus golfing experience, then check out the latest Tiger Woods game; it will be way better, and last way longer, but if you want a sample of that, then that’s what I predict this being; a sampling of future golf games.
Power Cruising
Slalom Course

Jet Skis… That’s exactly what this game is. This was actually one of the first games shown off in Wii Sports Resort, and looks to be one of the most fun. Well, using the Nunchuck, at least. You hold the Wi Remote and Nunchuck in each hand, and point the tops at each other. Press B to go, and if you twist the Wii Remote, you get a speed boost, if you are able to use one. You turn by tilting them side-to-side. But what about Slalom specifically? Well, you speed through rings as fast as you can. Different courses mix things up, but that’s it.
Vs.

Vs. mode, on the other hand, sounds way more fun. You and a friend may face each other, and do basically the same thing. The catch? You both don’t have to go through the rings, but one of you has to. If not, you’re pulled back to try it again. These games can get pretty intense, and I’m interested how this mechanic will work out in the long run. Will it be fun, or a chore?

Wiispace First Look: Wii Sports Resort- Part 3
July 23, 2009 by Quinten Vaughan · 1 Comment

Part three of my miniseries. Again, I must say, if you have interest in Skydiving, flying planes, archery, and others, please check out links to the previous days at the bottom of this article. Wii Sports Resort comes out in only 3 more days! Make sure you have enough cash to reserve your spot in the resort; it will fill up quickly, trust me. Without further ado, here’s the third set of games!
Cycling
Road Race

I can ride my bike with no handlebars… No handlebars… No handlebars… That’s basically what Cycling is. You take the Wii Remote and Nunchuck in each hand. You pedal your virtual bike by shaking the Wii Remote and Nunchuck one after the other, and you turn by tilting both controllers in the direction you wish to head in. But the game does not want you to pedal so quickly that you either lose your grip on the Wii Remote or Nunchuck, or so that you get exhausted; the faster you go, the more hearts you’ll use up. You have 3 hearts, and they refill over time; so, you could go at a constant pace, and use up minimal hearts, or use up 2, go slow, then use them up quickly again. If you lose all 3, well… Then you will pretty much stop, and people will bump you. Doesn’t sound like fun. Road Race provides a single player or 2 player experience, and it’s basically a race with many participants. Over 20 for sure. I expect this game to the most seldom played when compared to the other games.
