Snaking can't be illegal. :P It's simply doing a lot of mini-turbos. When I face off on WiFi, I don't snake unless I find it's necessary to keep up.

Snaking is where you go from one Mini Turbo to the next non stop. It has the effect of an endless speed boost. Even on completely straight track, one must powerslide, and alternate the control pad left and right to do the mini turbo. As soon as you boost, powerslide and mini turbo yet again, and then repeat for the whole course. A great course to practice this is the Figure 8 circuit.
