Will “Metroid Dread” Appear at This Year’s E3?

With another E3 Media and Business Summit coming up this July, it’s hard not to speculate as to what Nintendo will throw at us this year. E3 already has a modest line up forming for Nintendo’s handheld system, including a new Fire Emblem with online capabilities, but will that be their only killer app this year? Well, a couple of years ago, a rumor started spreading about a new 2D Metroid game being developed for the DS. It was never fully denied by Nintendo when asked about it, though it was never confirmed either. The hype from the rumor slowly died down until recently when Retro Studios (who never fully denied the game either) decided to slip this little scan into their newest Metriod Prime game for the Wii.
Let’s face it, we havn’t had a true and original handheld Metriod since “Metriod Fusion” back in 2002. If this screenshot tells the truth, then what better time to show off their new game than this year’s E3? Don’t let your hopes soar too high for this one, but also know it is more likely than some might initially think.
I sure hope this is true. I must have missed that scan in MP3!!!

It’s pretty old news, but most people had forgotten by now so i really thought it’d be great to start speculating before E3
I found that little scan too. It gets me thinking about what the future holds for the metroid series.
Ive been waiting for a new metroid game since 2 days after MP3 C… cause i beat it 100% in two days. :p There must be at least one mention of Metroid this E3… The Metroid drought was too long after Super Metroid, Nintendo better not pull another one of ‘em… Ive beat every ‘troid game cept RoS for Game Boy. As you said thousandfootwii-mote, the better not crumble this year.
