thats right folks. A new mmorpg is in the works for blizzard...and its not an expansion to WoW.

think about it...releasing wrath for WoW later this year...they just released starcraft 2 i believe. what other game could it be?

Star Craft II comes out in december. Maybe a Star Craft MMORPG. I would definitely pay to play that! Diablo III would rock too though.

yeah, i didnt know wheter or not starcraft 2 was already out or not, i knew it was already in the works though. but this sounds like a D3 project to me....or at least im hopin it is. i totally wanna roll necromancer for diablo

A Diablo MMORPG would make the most sense, since the Diablo franchise is already an part of the RPG genre. If you think about how MMORPG's work, it fits the bill.

Starcraft would be highly unlikely. For one, Starcraft II is already on the horizon as an RTS. And for two, I just can't see it being an MMORPG. Warcraft worked because the two waring factions are pretty much humanoid based and have all the same abilities. Can't say that for Starcraft. How many people want to play a Zergling? You run around and slash at things, but that is it? Each and every character inside Starcraft is extremely limited in functionality because the game requires the units to interact with each other to provide strength. That does not lend itself well to a translation in MMORPG.

Lastly... it is time for Diablo.

With the Warcraft series you had World of Warcraft.

With the Starcraft series, we now await the announced Starcraft II

With the Diablo series? We have nothing on the horizon... but in reality, I believe a Diablo MMORPG is in the works.

I was thinking at work yesterday. What if Blizzard totally went outside of the box. Didn't do one of their big franchises for this MMORPG. They designed a totally new franchise for the company. Maybe a game that is in outerspace. Because midevil games have been done way too many times.

I hope that its some kind of new MMORPG that no one thought about yet that will be awesome. I didn't really like diablo so it would be cool if it was a entirely new game. I bet they are doing this because they are started to get a little scared of Warhammer Online.

Blizzard tried to "step out of the box" on two occasions in recent history, and both of those resulted in hundreds of thousands in losses. (Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans, and Starcraft: Ghost). My guess is they stick with what they know best, and try to work the "Warcraft MMORPG" magic with a Diablo theme.

i think d3 is in the works because its been in demand forever. if they totally make a new franchise, im gonna be uber mad. i just wanna kill mobs of monsters and get easy xp like i did in d2
