One of the best titles ever released for the 360, or is it? Assassin’s Creed places you into Abstergo Industries where researchers are working on a project known as Animus. This Animus project allows the user to tap into genetic memories left behind by ancestors and relive them as if they were really there.

You play as Desmond and Altaïr, but most of the time you will be playing as the assassin Altaïr who lived during the 12th century. The game takes place in what we know today as Palestine. Ubisoft did not hold back when they decided to put their effort into making the world for this game, for it is truly vast and extremely detailed. As an assassin you will feel like a WMD running around doing missions. Such missions involve pick pocketing, interrogations, and of course assassinations. You can pretty much kill anyone you run into, although that wouldn’t be morally correct….

The combat system in this game however was lacking. The game gives you many diverse ways to take care of your enemies. Such ways involve hand to hand combat, using a sword, dagger, and even throwing knives. The combat gets a little repetitive after a good sit down of playing, along with the fact that the AI was not very smart. I stabbed a General Guard in the back for an instant kill out in the open in front of 10 enemy guards all lined up. After they saw their General lying on the ground dead, they all walked up to the dead body while I was standing right next to it and they were questioning what was wrong with him. I walked away from that crowd of people without even being noticed.

The graphical detail along with voice acting, character animation, and soundtrack were well done. It’s amazing to see all of a city from a great height, almost exhilarating. The character movement is fluid, especially during combat. The voice acting was done nicely, I didn’t hear one Scottish accent try to sound like they’re from Palestine. The musical soundtrack was nice to listen to, playing authentic music you would hear if you were really there.

The world has so many different things you can interact with. Too many things in fact, if you’re not careful while you’re on the run from enemies, you’ll be running up along the walls jumping around like you’re a crazy man. It’s much easier to traverse cities from roof to roof rather than walking in the roads and walking paths.

Once you finish the game though, you won’t really feel a strong need to replay it. It takes so long to get from Point A to Point B on the map that you would think you spend more time traveling than actually being an assassin. Thankfully they offer a quick-jump option at selected intervals in the game.

Overall this game makes an excellent purchase for those seeking somewhat of a thrill. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to feel like a ninja.
