Xbox 360 Need for Speed Pro Street

This is my first review EVER, so it might be pretty bad, and it might have some errors.

Need for Speed Pro Street had high expectation from all of the NFS fans, but did it live up to those expectations? Looking at the trailers and previews made the game seem a lot better than it really is.

The first thing I noticed about this game is the smoke effect from spinning/sliding tires. The smoke effect was over exaggerated, I know cars do burnouts that cause large amounts of smoke, but you have to be burning out for awhile to do that. In the game, as soon as i hold the gas it starts up this whole smoke show. Im sure everyone who saw this game was expecting some great drifting tracks. Sadly, the drift tracks are not the same as previous Need for Speed titles, the tracks are very short and get quite boring after awhile. Don't get me wrong though, this is good game, and even though there's some problems, doesn't mean there isn't anything good about this game. I really like the drag races in this game. Before each race, you and your opponent have a couple of seconds to heat up your tires and gain more traction for a better launch off the start.

The story isn't very good. To tell you the truth there isn't much of a story to it. You're just another guy starting at the bottom and building your way up to face that final "boss", and ruin his racing career.

Unlike all the other Need for Speed titles, this isn't illegal street racing. For once, it is in a closed track, there are some pros and cons to this.

Pros

- no more dumb shortcuts
- no more traffic that purposly rams into you

Cons

- Tracks are very wide and easy
- can't free roam anymore

The graphics in this game are just amazing, every detail you can imagine can be seen on the car. All the cars look exactly the way the would in real-life. Enogh about the cars though, even the track details look great, but EA didnt put much work into the way things look outside of the track(city, etc).

EA did a great job on the specs of the car, sure the game is no Forza 2, but the cars are realistic for once. Cars don't take turns at 100 km/r anymore, and cars don't reach top speeds of 400 km/h. EA could have don't better with the crash aspect of the game, i smashed into a wall pretty hard, and even though my car looked damaged it didn't really effect the performance of the car which was kind of dumb.

Overall score: 7/10
