Simon's Quest was an interesting but failed experiment in trying something new with the Castlevania series. It didn't click and Konami went back to basics with Castlevania III. Of course, by the time Symphony of the Night rolled around, Konami had the whole "Metroidvania" idea revamped and we saw how well that was done. Hey, I like the game. In the end that is all that matters.
