online is 100 times better than brawl there is no lag at all ill explain.
so on the main menu you have the option of playing 1 player online or 2 players. Then you will be alowed in usually after 5 to 15 seconds. Then you will have 3 options Worldwide, Regional, Friends. worldwide and regional are basically the same thing except regional is people in your continent and worldwide is everywhere. you select either of the two and you will get the option of playing battle (balloon, coin) or vs (race against others) then it will let you pick your character and kart/bike. after that it will send you to a globe and will search for opponents. this is where its very different from brawl. in brawl it takes about 5 minutes to look for 4 people to play and usually the game is very laggy. in mkwii i've never had it take longer then 30 seconds to find a race and there is never any lag. to be more specific what happens is that after waiting a bit you will get all these circles with question marks pop up then it will go circle to circle showing who that person is, their mii, and where they are located then it will send you to a screen that says please wait a moment. then you will be sent to spectate the race that is in progress or if its over it will send you to a screen that says preparing the race. then it will show you everyone you're playing and their vs or br (battle) rank you can then press the ok button and you will get to either vote for a course or select random. then it will pick the course and will then start the race/battle. if you select friend it will send you to another menu that has Create a Room, Find a Friend, and Register a Friend. i think the find a friend is by far the most usefull it tells you if they're on and what they're currently doing and then lets you meet up with the person if they're doing either vs or battles (which would be like allowing you to meet up with a friend when they're in a basic brawl). the create a room is the same as creating a room in brawl the only thing i dont like about it is that it doesnt let you deny people from entering. also when your in the room you have the option of sending messages to eachother that are pre-made it would be nice if you could write them your self but the messages are helpful. then when you are ready to start the race the person who started the room can "close it" and decide what kind of race you are going to do (vs, team, balloon, coin) after that you will go through the regular race/battle procedure. adding a friend is the same as brawl but there is no friend roster and brawl which also shows friend roster. in mkwii the find a friend is where it shows all of your friends. umm hope i didnt forgot anything but if i did just ask
