I suggest Guitar Hero and Rock Band as well, but only if you're into music games.
For FPS: Perfect Dark Zero, Gears, maybe Halo
RPG: Blue Dragon, Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom, Phantasy Star Universe (could name more, I love RPG's)
Platform: Stay away from Sonic. Please. But if you enjoy Naruto, I would suggest this as well, a fun game.
Racing: Burnout Paradise. A must.
Any genres you actually prefer, I could name good games for.
