Neopets and Same-Sex Marriage

You guys have heard of Neopets, right? It's that cute 'n' cuddly-type cyber phenom that started way back in 1999.
Well, I used to play that damn game religiously -- all day, all night, and I loved it. I don't know what the attraction was or is, but it was certainly there. I was quite good at it, if I do say so myself, collecting just about two million neopoints before I left, in search of . . . well, nothing. I haven't the faintest memory of why I decided to leave. I'm sure it was just something that was gradually phased out as I lost interest for whatever reason.
Point is: I recently figured out the year of birth I signed up with (it's now necessary to know) and was able to log into my main account for the first time in about 4-6 years. I honestly forget the length of my absence. So anyway, I took a tour of my items, the news, the map, etc., and found the whole thing to be very childish and silly. I really have no idea what attracted me to the site originally. It's quite below my standards nowadays . . . NOT! Man, I loved the revitalizing experience. It only served to tantalize my taste-buds and slap me hard across the face, as if to say, "Man, why did you leave!? Why, man!? Why!?" I practically spent the rest of the day browsing around, working myself back into the groove of things (which I'm still working on) and trying to snag some of the newest items, just like I used to do very frequently in the days of yore. It was great. It was awesome. It was grawesome. And it also assured my continuance in the future.
I am a massive nerd.

Also, Mexico City became the very first Latin-American city to legalize same-sex marriage, which is obviously a major step forward for Latin-America in general, and we should hope the idea catches on quickly, etc., etc. . . .

The Neopets? Damn right, they were and are. It's probably the leading reason why I'm still playing it. I'm a sucker for cuteness.

I liked the Griffon one. He was kinda cuddly, but still manly looking.

Naturally, I tended to like the least manly of them, such as Kacheek and Shoyru, although dragons are considered pretty manly, I suppose.

I'd link you to my account, Bears, but I made it when I was around 11 or 12, and therefore some of the content is extremely embarrassing. Not really, but still. I named one of my Petpets "DragonX." Yeah, now that's badassery right there.

I too played Neopets for EVER.
Lol. Although semi-recently, I tried to log in, but forgot my log-in info. =[ I emailed the staff, and they said it was not recoverable. Which kinda sucks, cuz I had some crazy awesome pets. Etc, a mutant Snake thingy, and a Kiko. I believe all my pets were either painted or limited edition..or both! |
