Red Dead Resentment

So last night I was dragged to the local Film Center for some unknown Red Dead Redemption event. Never playing the game, or having a system it was on, I wasn't too interested. I've seen reviews, videos, and heard a lot about it. A month after it's release, not much would entertain me pertaining an interview or a "making off" video. So they bring us into the theater where this old lady, who has a son who plays, (which apparently makes her a master at it?) introduces a Rockstar Rep. They show us the trailer, show us the short film that was on Fox on Saturday night, then the rep talks about various parts of the game while playing it and answers questions. Despite being part of a video game forum, my brother and I felt so alienated being surrounded by people ranging from 7 to 40 who love this game. He was then bombarded with questions ranging from a confused mom "why couldn't it be released on the wii?", to a real life version of the comic book man from the Simpsons asking "in the game, he was propositioned by a prostitute. There was no button to accept. So technically, this is not an open world experience?" Finally, we got out and they threw stickers, shirts, and card decks at us. Plan on selling the shirt at my school. The Rockstar stickers might go on my door or skateboard or something. The card deck was pretty badass though. All in all, I wasted 3 hours doing something that youtube could have yielded to me in minutes. This might have been slightly more exciting if it was before the release, but now it's just a guy playing a game and, more or less, reading off the inside-cover booklet.

Pleasantville, at the Jacob Burns Film Center. And trust me, it wasn't fun. A hardcore RDR fan would have been bored
