There are scripts that are free. However, they need a server to run on. In particular, the ones that are integrated with vbulletin (like ours) are VERY server intensive, thus they are not totally free. Someone has to pay a hosting fee for a server.

And besides, the VIP $20 thing is not a "chatbox fee". It's a donation that helps defray the costs of running this site. For that donation, I give some extras to show my appreciation.

no it shouldnt, but i rember back when it was first intorduced, before you were even here rok, that the forum nearly died cuz of it.

it stunk. all conversation happened on the chatbox. i think wiispace ahd a good idea limiting it. that way the forum wouldnt die.

exactly, I have noticed tons of members dissapearing since it got removed, and that's good. Who needs a chatbox only chatter? I've always been a great poster and posted very frequently even when it was free.

i used the chat more then all of you did and i obviously dont have a problem posting.......

and like blan said A LOT of people left because of it.... it sucks

I'm kinda sad they left and kinda not, it's like: good riddence non-posters!!! I also like the chatbox being VIP cause no spammers are going to pay $20 just to spam. and if they did they would just be un-VIPed

on an average about how many people are in the chatbox most of the time......?

2-3, ON A GOOD DAY.

Most of the time, nobody is there for hours at a time. Which is cool because I like the forum aspect of Wiispace.
