Gamecube won't read discs? Come here!

Since so many people have started PMing me about how to open the cube without the gamebit, i'm making this message on how to do it.

To make a gamebit:
Get 1-4 dead plastic pens
Have a working lighter or candle around.


Ok, you are making a gamebit out of a pen.
It may sound weird, but it worked for me.
Again i am not responsible for any possible mishaps that may occur.

Allright, in your pens, take out the tube of ink.
Next take the pens's "shell" and put it over a small flame for a little while.
(Just the tip.)

When it gets soft (don't turn it into liquid now!)
stick it into the hole containig a gamebit screw from your gamecube's underside.

Keep it there for a while (about 2 min) to cool.
When it's cooled, gently twist the screw out and voila!
If the screw didn't fuse to your pen, do it with the next hole until each gamebit screw is out.

PS, dont put the pen in all the way; this will cause the screws to get stuck into the pen.

its good to know I'm not the only person who had these problems because everyone used to think I abused my GC but it was just because I've had it for 4 years. Well, I'm gonna sell it soon and maybe this will up the value if they test it.

Remember though, your cube may still be a bit defective even after this "operation" however this method will inform you on how to fix it when more of these disc reading problems occur.

Does anyone's gamecube switch off after every couple of minutes of playing, the power button dosn't click off. It's still pressed down, but a couple of days ago it constantly keeps switching of, I was wondering maybe it was overheating even though I only played about an hour? It kept switching of after the HOUR i played.

you didn't double post...
and that switching off thing happened to our tuner in our family room, it would just randomly turn off, and turns out we had to get a replacement piece on the inside.. so maybe somthing on the inside is broken..

Used (1 year)
Refurbished (1 month)
Brand new (Still works...)

I never abuse anything. I'm so careful.

Ahhh!!! The frustration! The disc read errors! The putting the Cube in the refrigerator! This allowed me to play longer. My theory was overheating. It seemed I was right... It worked beautifully for quite a long time. Then, it quit altogether.

I went out and bought a brand new Cube from target. It still works. Hopefully, It won't quit like the other 2.

I'm not upset with Nintendo. I should have bought New from the beginning! The only thing you can buy used is the games, not the consoles. DO NOT BUY A USED GC! BUY IT NEW. For good measure, don't buy a used Wii either, because somebody might have abused it.

this method works like a charm, and if it ever acts up again (i'm selling it anyway) i could fix it easy, and when i sell my GC on eaby, i'm going to put instructions inside on how to fix it..

I use a laptop, and I've never had problems with it. The only reason I stuck my GC in the refrigerator, was I figured I had nothing to lose.

refrigerators...overheating....i should put my laptop in the fridge! maybe then it will quit shutting off every 10 minutes. allthough...it hasn't done this in the past few days...
