Well, beleive it or not the cube has online capabilities but it needs the special adapter to work.
Personnally i have no idea why nintnedo decided to give the cube this kind of "power". Only 3-4 games can be played via the gamecube's online feature and the adapter is like $50.00 Nintendo probably did this just to make the cube seem to be at the level the xbox and ps2 were at with online gaming. Obviously, i'd say it flopped.
