Well, the simple solution is looking at the Targeted Market difference between Wavebird and Madcatz.
Wavebird sells to pro game players that have decided they want to upgrade their Gaming experience by removing the hastle associated with cords. They are renowned for making wireless controllers. I dont even know if they make anything else. Madcatz is a company started by Satan and Jack Thompson to bring misery to all those who play games. The targeted market is the unsuspecting mothers (the dads have a 6th sense about this so they dont buy it) that don't know how crappy the product is because they never bothered to look it up. The controllers are designed to break in seemingly insignificant ways that destroy every game you try and play. For example: My (first) one broke at the R button. Now, a thing about the R button is that in Smash, it activates the shield. Now, that should be find, L does the same thing. But the problem wasnt that it wouldn't work, its that it worked when you werent pressing it. Do you know how annoying it is to lose a brawl because what should have been your killing attack was stopped because you shielded for no reason instead?

The worst part is, that's not even an exaggeration. I bought 3 of these with other people one year for my friend with a Cube, brand new from EB (who are normally pretty good about the quality of new stuff), and they didn't work. None of them.
I specifically used to force my parents to sit down and play a video game with me once a week to TEACH them the difference between good stuff and bad stuff. So when my birthday rolled around, I got mailed Super Mario Galaxy instead of Super Monkey Ball. o.O
