Netflix Exclusive To The Xbox?

Some actual shocking news coming from Netflix and Microsoft today. It appears that the reason Netflix hasn't made it to the PS3 or Wii yet is because they have an exclusive deal with Microsoft.

According to the update notes released with the new Xbox Dashboard update today, this was stated:
Netflix Partnership

This exclusive partnership offers you the ability to instantly stream movies and TV episodes from Netflix to the television via Xbox 360. Xbox 360 will be the only game console to offer this movie-watching experience, available to Xbox LIVE Gold members who are also Netflix unlimited plan subscribers, at no additional cost.

Oh well, looks like Sony and Nintendo are going to have to come up with another way to get streaming movies on their consoles.

Could Sony or Nintendo use this to their advantage? Just add a small fee, or a special Netflix plan?

When something says "Exclusive" it usually means they have a contract agreement...which means Sony and Nintendo would be SOL.

They just said it will be the only console to get it for free.

No it doesn't. It says "Xbox 360 will be the only game console to offer this movie-watching experience, available to Xbox LIVE Gold members who are also Netflix unlimited plan subscribers, at no additional cost."...

The comma after the word experience is just expanding on the sentence. It means that the 360 will be the only game console to offer Netflix, AND that Gold members with plans will get it for free.

Hmmm. Ok, whatever. Doesn't matter much to me anyway, I don't have Netflix. Maybe I will when I buy my 360.

netflix is a brilliant idea, definently THE way to get your movie addiction satisfied. having the instant queue streamed through your xbox and just to be able to have almost any movie you can think of in just a few days is pretty sweet.

because of netflix, im bout to get gamefly, lol.
