'New' Nintendo 3DS + XC Port

I'm actually kind of surprised that no one on the Wiispace forums hasn't said anything about this, so I'll do it myself...

Nearly two months ago, Nintendo announced a new, more powerful version of the Nintendo 3DS, which at the moment is being called the 'New' Nintendo 3DS. Visually, the biggest difference is that the ABXY buttons are colored, but it's really the hardware that is the most impressive: one can customize the look of their NN3DS with replaceable decorative plates, and it is powerful enough to play games that could be played on the Wii.

If you don't believe me, take a look at the link below:

And for the record, Nintendo will be making a big-screen version of the NN3DS to boot.

Finally, in regards to the power of this system, one of the first games they are planning to port onto it is Xenoblade Chronicles! If this is true, those that missed out on one of the most epic games of the past five years will have another chance to play it, now in a more portable package!

Any thoughts about the NN3DS?

Yeah it's pretty impressive. A lot of people are making fun of it for just being the "new" version of an already existing handheld, but when has that ever stopped the Japanese from buying a DS? Never that's when. Any news on it coming to the States though? Last I heard it was Japan only.

Seems like the DS is a lovely cash cow for Nintendo

They've been releasing 'new' versions for years and I guess it must be profitable otherwise they would have stopped.

No question, I think it's safe to say everyone in Japan as one in each of their pockets.

Exclamation

I got some more news regarding the 'New' Nintendo 3DS: it will be launched in the States on 2/13. It should be noted, however, that only the XL version will be released to the public, and that there will be no charging device included with it (the original 3DS charging device is said to work with the 'New' 3DS model). As a final note, the initial asking price is $200 USD.

Nice, thanks for the info dude.

To be honest though, I find all of these editions and what not to be a tad bit silly. Slow down and make something a bit more different instead of milking the poor thing to death.

OK, I now know the date of the Xenoblade Chronicles release for the New Nintendo 3DS: it will be 4/2/2015. The article that confirmed the news was IGN, as seen by the link below:

Is this not also coming to the Wii U?

I'm afraid not. Instead, a sort-of sequel is being made for the Wii U entitled Xenoblade Chronicles X.
