Japan does not buy Wii games

I have about ten games. If you count VC, I have a lot more. It does surprise me that less games were sold in Japan, but it may be because they spend less than we do (I don't know). The number of games bought does not reflect the number of hours played!

Wow I would think that Japan would be buying them all up, heck they have games that come out over there that we never get a chance to see.

Well I own about 8 games not including VC games. I have even more pre ordered. Maybe this will get Nintendo to start releasing some games over here that we never get to see.... but more then likely not

You people are forgetting that this is an "average" number. Mostly likely the reason the average is so low is because of the amount of consoles sold. My guess is that a lot of the consoles bought in Japan were by those "first time" non-gamers that Nintendo targeted, who bought the console because everyone was and bought only one game to go with it. Since then, they haven't bought any other games.

So you probably have a large population of gamers in Japan who own a Wii and have 8-10 games each, and then you have the non-gamers who aren't quite sure why they bought a Wii and have only one game. The article doesn't take this into account, and would rather try to make you think that the Wii is in trouble because the assumption being made is that ALL Wii owners in Japan are "gamers" who are snubbing the Wii. I'd say that isn't true.

Another thing to consider is that the wii is not the only console that has an impact on the market in Japan. PS3 also has a good chunk of the market there. While its not selling as well as the wii it does in some part contribute to people not buying wii games. People in Japan may just have one system per house meaning if they have a PS3 and nothing else then that means less wii game sales.
