I found the following on IGN-

Even though the steering wheel comes packed in with the game, you're not forced to use it. Mario Kart Wii will have full support for playing using the Wii remote exclusively, or the Wii Remote with the Nunchuk, or the Classic Controller, or even a GameCube controller. The game will automatically recognize which controller you choose to use the moment it's plugged in, and every best time will be noted with a specific controller icon to let everyone know just how you managed to get that score.

Right, that's why you can buy a gamecube racing wheel and use it of mario kart wii.

Which is good, because it means the racing wheel I use for PS2 racing games can be used. It conveniently has a gamecube plug.

Despite that, I still won't be purchasing this game for a while. >.>

i wont be buying the game for a long while. it comes out too close to ssbb here, unfortuently. i think the realese date 1 day after japan is a sorry for the europe brawl delays (which were significantly larger than the american and japanese ones.)

That stinks that you guys have to wait longer. It's such a fun game.(Says as playing smash and killing level 8 guys with no real problem.)

Yeah in the US we think we've got it bad but in Europe stuff never comes out.
