Does the blue shell only appear once per race?

Does the blue shell appear only once per race, because i've lead every lap of a race online and the blue shell has only been sent 1 time, and this has happened numerous times.

nah i ussually get pummeled by 3-4 blue shells every race.

it just depends on luck basically

No.more times because usually the person in last place gets better items.Sometimes they get stars,the lighting bolt item,and the blue shell.

I hate the blue shell. Recently I got hit with it 2 seconds to the finish line and then I ended up in 4th.

yep the blue shell should have been kept out the game, it just happens at the wrong time jeeeeesh.

I hate the lightning, it ALWAYS fires right when I'm above a pit so I die.

No usally 3-5 but it only happeneds to the person in 1st place.

I got hit with it 3 times in 1 lap before

I think I got hit 5 times in the whole race..... needles to say I didn't take first, but in my defence the odds where against me!
