I need Help

I'm trying to decide which combo I'm going to use. I have nailed it down to either Mii/Funky Kong on Bowser Bike/Flame Runner or Torpedo/Spear.

I have had success with Torpedo/Spear but at some tracks with tight corners I'm finding it hard to turn and run off road.
It has also had some great wins, however luck was involved in those wins as in Peach Gardens I also had trouble going around the last set of hedges but managed just to get past without hitting it. I went on to win the Wi-Fi race. Although I did easily beat 8000-9000 rank players.....fluky..but 2 races in a row with victories.

Bowser Bike/Flame Runner was often my main one until I unlocked Torpedo and then I started thinking. I can easily turn with this one and it is actually quite good. I have won with this one but I don't know if it could match it with high rank people. My rank right now is around 6700 so it could do with some work.

Torpedo/Spear also did better on Luigi Circuit...around 3 seconds quicker than my time on Bowser Bike. Why? Because there isn't too many sharp turns on that course.

My other thing could have been that I might just have gotten better. I mean I went on Wi-Fi after barely playing much, my rank was around 4200.
I then unlocked all the cups in 50cc and 100cc and then my rank jumped to around 6000.
I then did time trials and unlocked the Torpedo/Spear. I used that on Wi-Fi. Rank jumped to 6600 with a few 1-3 placings over good ranks but quite a margin.
Maybe the time trials helped me.
I just a couple a minutes ago raced on Bowser Bike. I won 2 races but I should have won another 2 but items killed me. But the ratings of those people were around 6000-6500. I won them both by a good margin.

Another factor is that I drive Automatic not manual but I don't want any of you telling me to change.

I would like your help on this one and all advice/thoughts/experiences will be appreciated.

Also I would like any tips for the Spear Bike.

UPDATE: Just did another few wi-fi races...Bowser Bike should have come 2nd in them but items some 2 races came in 6-7 (one was Rainbow Road though), another two races third although there was this guy that was really bad and kept riding into water, lava but kept appearing back on the screen in like first place....can you even hack Mario Kart?

spear is best bike/kart in the game but unless you can learn to deal with its crappy handlings then dont use it

Are there any tips you can give me??
It's more turning so would it be anything to do with turning angles??

hmm uhh A)use auto if youre going to use spear B)practice and do lots of vs races

o and if youre really going to use him dont get used to using someone else when i first started i used toad and i got way to used to good handling so now i have trouble using heavy characters something i kind of regret

Would it just be better to use spear at time trials??
Cause I've heard it's a good bike for time trials....

But then shouldn't it be good in a race.....

yea most people with the world records if not all use the spear

practice controlling the spear, if u can master it you will eb settign records.

Stick to the spear dude!>.< I got it yesterday and can already use it better than most bikes except mach bike and the sneakster.

Thanks for all your help guys. I have nailed it down to if I can ever handle the turning of the Spear on some tracks it must be used.
I have also tested some other vehicles:
Wild Wing
Mach Bike
Bullet Bike
Mini Beast
and some of them were also proven effective.
