Boost at beginning of race!

Can anyone please tell me how to do the boost at the start of the race, ive gone onto loads of different sites and they all say different things!

Well, I don't have Mario Kart wii but i do have Mario Kart 64 and what i remember is to rapidly tap the acceleration button. Try it.

actually in mkwii u need to hold down the accelaration button right when the 2 in the counter begins to fade. You will then get a boost, the legth and speed of your boost depends on ur cart/bike and how long you held the button. Be careful though... if u hold it down for too long ur engine will get overloaded with gas.
