Gran Turismo 5 Prologue

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue

This is by far the best racing game available currently. It most definitely the best in the series and that's saying a lot if your have played the GT series at all.
There is very little that this game does badly and so much it does good it's almost disgusting.

Let's start with graphics on this amazing game. Let me just say when I saw GT4 for the first time with the photorealistic cars I was simplely amazed and thought it couldn't get better. Well let me tell you it did and it's amazing how much better. The shadows flow like they should on the car and in car view. Yes, they finally added an in car view and the shadows dance across the dashboard like they do when driving in real life.

Sound of this game, I think is the best of the series. Not all the 4, 6, 8 cylinders sound the same you can definitely tell the different exhaust notes from car and make. Tires slipping make real slippage noise.

Controls are awesome, best of franchise(as you would think). They really stepped up the controls even for using a controller(which i'm confined to for the moment). All cars handle like they should with the right oversteer or understeer. You need to actually break correctly or you can lose the backend of the car.

Presentation is very nicely laid out as always. Not a lot of clutter but enough to let you know what's going on. The position and lap trackers are nice and large in the left hand side of screen. The rpm, speedometer and such are not overly huge but nice and cleanly done. All the menu's are easy to read and clean also.

Additions to the game obviously online is a huge addition. If GT games haven't had enough play time already the addition of online adds a hole new side and more hours of gameplay. GT-TV is another addition that I'm enjoying a lot actually. They put up movies related to racing or GT like currently the Nurburgring 24 hour preview.

Overall this is a must own for any racing fan with a PS3 or any GT fan. Though it's only a demo it still has more cars then most racing games out anyway with 70 overall, though limited too only several tracks. I give this game a 8.5/10(right now, they might update and add several tracks which will make this easily a 9.5)

8.5/10
