Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Review

http://videogames.techfresh.net/wp-c.../04/naruto.jpg

Intro

This was the first game I ever got for the PS3. It was great to get me used to the controller, and a overall good experience. However, you should know now that I won't be keeping this game. I'm trading it in a few days for Lord of the Rings: Conquest. I had fun with this, but I just don't see the point in keeping it.

Presentation

When you first start the game, you'll notice that instead of the Anime clips you got in Naruto: Rise of the Ninja (Xbox360) you get newly animated 3D cut scenes. The menu's hugely reflect this, and have cool animations of their own. There are three options on the main menu. Story, VS Battle and Options. VS Battle let's you use the characters and moves you unlock in Story mode to fight a computer, or a human opponent. Over all the presentation is very slick.

9/10

Graphics/Visuals

In a nut shell, the graphics are perfect. When adapting from an Anime, this is the perfect style to follow. Bandia Namco opted for a more cartoony style, and pulled it off beautifully. Slick and fluid, the game is pure 3D/Anime eye candy. My only rant was that a lot of buildings look the same.

9.5/10

Gameplay

The game revolves around to basic game play modes. Free roam, and combat. When in story mode, you roam around the hidden leaf and collect items such as new moves for your characters, ramen ingredients, or secret scrolls. You can also except missions such as playing 'Hide and Seek' with Konohamoru and his friends. This will give you mission points, which are vital to unlocking levels in story mode.

When you head into battle however, this is when the game shows it's true colors. The combat system revolves around three things, Jutsu, combo's, and shuriken. All are critical. Combo's are good for getting a lot of hits in, while Jutsu inflict damage quickly, but takes chakra, which has to either be charged, or gained through chakra orbs (little blue balls your enemy drops when they get hit hard). Shurikan WILL be your most used move, as it's the only thing that can hit your opponent when their jumping around. I found that when fighting the CPU, it has a tendency to just throw shurikan, not much more. This can be annoying. But it is easily looked around by blocking and grabbing. If you using Gaara, this is always a treat. "Sand Coffin!"

8.5/10

Summary

However much this game might look lame, it is the living embodiment of the Naruto anime. From the constant obsession of Sasuke, to the nickname 'Pervy Sage'. If your a fan of the Anime or Manga, get it. If your not, you might want to reconsider. There isn't much here for a nonfan.

Over all ~ 9/10

I love this game i still play it. its a lil dull cuz the DLC kinda blows but it tides me over till part two comes out.

if you like the game, just keep it. LotR:C sucks imo. I played it at my friends house and the combat is really dull and even when your playing as a "hero", you can still be killed by 3 warriors. Don't waste your money.

I already did Dink. It's fun enough. The Warriors are wayyyyyy over powered though. Online is pretty fun. I still have yet to delve into it.

I never even got to play this stupid game. He sold it before I could! I think he should have bought another controller so he could play with other people. But no.

Don't buy conquest, It's a terribly glitchy game with absolutely no good physics.... I played it for a day or two, after the campaign you'll get bored of it... And the campaign is only like 3 hours long.

Yeah, I can feel where your coming from Mika. The campaign was good, but online is kind of lame. I still have yet to play a fun match. Yesterday I couldn't find one with a decent PING. :\

Aw man... Did you already buy it?

SuperHero 04-13-2009 04:56 PM

He bought it several days ago. If you'll look at one of his earlier posts, he said so.
