Harvest Moon SNES VC Review
![]() Harvest Moon is one of my all time favorite franchises. I've been playing the SNES version of the game ever since i was in 4th grade...and im sitting at age 19 now, and im still playing the role of a hardworking blue collar rancher in this gem of a game. This game was recently released for the VC, and I HIGHLY recommend giving this game a try! PLOT: 10/10 The game starts off..and you get to name your character. unfortunately in this game, you can only be a guy, and you can only name your character up to 4 letters for a name...which is awesome if your name is 4 letters or less. You have inherited your parents ranch, and you have to apply yourself every day to make money by planting crops, raising livestock, and going into the wild and gathering items such as fruit, vegetables, and you can even fish and sell them for income. However, the ranch is a mess. Your fence's need repairing, you have to pull weeds, chop tree stumps for wood, smash rocks to clear land, and use your hoe to till the ground for your crops. ![]() ![]() You must also maintain relationships with those in the nearby town so you can become an outstanding member of society...and you can also get a girlfriend, and eventually marry them and have babies...IF you raise enough money and materials to enlarge your house. Your starting tools are an axe, hammer, sickle, flowering pot, and a hoe. you can buy new tools for new sources of income, such as a milker for cows, and a brush to keep them happy and for them to produce more milk. you can also give your livestock "the miracle of birth" formula, and they have a new baby cow in a month. you can also raise up to 12 chickens and sell the eggs daily if you feed them well. theres a WHOLE lot more to do, but these are the bare basics of the game. Gameplay: 10/10 the gameplay is quite simple and easy to get used to. for example, b makes you sprint, Y makes you use your tool, and so on so forth...its easy to get used to. if you have trouble with gameplay, theres an instruction guide in your tool shed on how to operate the controls. be careful though! your stamina depletes with every swing of the tool, to the point where you just cant carry on for the rest of the day. you can restore a bit of stamina by eating food or resting in the spa, but its really not that huge of a stamina boost. Also, there are festivals every month that you can attend, and some of have mini games in them..such as the Egg Festival, where you hunt colored eggs and get a prize for winning! Also, festivals are a great way to woo the ladies, you can buy them gifts at the festival and some you can ask for a dance! Be careful though, some girls dislike certain gifts. Game Durability: 10/10 the replay value for this game is incredible in my opinion. You go through 3 and a half years of gameplay...30 days for each season: spring, summer, fall, winter; all of which have different strategies for crops. Did i mention you get a horse in the first winter? it makes harvesting crops a lot easier! Sound: 6/10 This is probably the weakest portion of the game. A different tune for each season, and the sound effects of your tools, and a little high pitched noise for every letter in text boxes. It's not annoying, but its not spectacular either. Overall: 8/10 This is a great RPG title for anybody. It's got plenty of activities to keep you busy, and its just a flatout good game...especially if you like making virtual money and becoming a virtual millionaire! all it takes is a little bid of hard virtual elbow grease! CHECK THIS GAME OUT! MY RATING: 9/10 ![]() my cat rules!

You are so right this is an amazing game and was one of my favorites on the SNES. It really open the door for games of different types to start coming over to America. It showed that we could think outside the box, lol. Nice review by the way!
