Australia, August 17, 2008 - Packing in more value for money is all the rage in Australia this month. Following on from IGN's retail scoop last week about the new 80GB PS3, Microsoft is today releasing its own upgraded Xbox 360. A new 60GB Xbox 360 Pro console hits Aussie stores today for $499.
This is the same price point the 20GB Xbox 360 Pro console was previously selling for, meaning you now get triple the harddrive space for the same price.
As well as the $499 60GB Xbox 360, Microsoft also provides the 120GB Xbox 360 Elite ($649) and the Xbox 360 Arcade (no harddrive) for $349.
According to retail Sony will release the new 80GB PS3 for $699 on 28 August 2008 (the 40GB PS3 is currently priced at $699). On the flipside, Nintendo has shown no inclination to shift its $399 price for the Wii console (which has been the same price since its December 2006 launch).
