XBL Techincal Question -HELP!
My brother has an XBOX360, and he has XBOX Live. I figured out how to create my own gamer profile on his xbox (withough xbox live). My question is, if I decide to buy an XBOX360 in December, can I transfer my user account from his XBOX to my new one? I don't want to pay for my own Live account right now since its not my xbox, and I play only 2-3 times a month on his.
I don't want to have to redo all my achievements etc once I get my own xbox. THANKS!!

Ok, this can be done. Firstly, do not buy any arcade games or anything else for that matter on the marketplace until you are on your own console!! Trust me, this a big mess with a DRM issue that you don't want to get involved in. So currently you are on his console with your own gamertag, and you are just a silver member because you don't want to pay for gold yet, right!?
What you'll want to do is recover your gamertag on your new console, rendering it useless on his but usable on your new console.(A gamertag can only exist on one console at a time.) Before you make the transfer make sure you sign in to Live under your gamertag on his console! That way your latest gamerscore/achievements are definitely updated on the xbox server. If you get an achievement while offline, your console knows and shows it, but xbox doesn't know this until you sign on to live so it can update your information! Keep in mind, sometimes it may take minutes or hours for the server to update this information. Now, when you turn on your new console make sure your hooked up to the internet, then on the dashboard under the xbox live blade you'll want to click on recover gamertag and then enter the gamertag to recover. Then you'll be asked to enter the email address and password associated to this gamertag, something you had to create when you initially made this gamertag. So make sure you remember that information....enter it in and wait a bit while it recovers your gamertag. Then your set! This will recover you gamertag, achievements and such but not game save files..... if you are in the middle of a game or something, you will need to get a memory card to transfer the game saves from your brothers console to yours. Hope this helps. At times this can be hard to explain and I know it can sound confusing. So if I didn't explain something right or if you have further questions feel free to ask!

You can also just buy a memory card because it can transfer accounts and game saves rather than recovering your account, either method works.

Thanks, that was a great help, and made perfect sense.
As of right now, Im not a member of any xbox live, but it sounds like I can sign up for silver for free and use it on his xbox until I get my own, right? One thing thats kinda lame though is the saved games and that you have to buy a memory card.. but oh well. This was more than I had hoped for. Thanks again to all.
