Yes, good old Chrono Trigger, a amazing game. On the SNES I was always more of a FF II and FF III fan (or FF IV and FF VI if you would rather call it that).
Chrono Trigger is a great game that took up a big part of my life growing up. I remeber playing it on the SNES and going throw the game like 6 different times, just trying to get all the endings. Oh and there are a lot more then six different endings, everything that you do during the game affects the way the game ends, and that means everything. Dont pick on people unles you want to feel the pain later, those who have played it know what I speak of .Its just great all the different endings the game has. It really makes the replay value of this game really, really high ![]()

I am not sure but I think that it is the port from the SNES, I have not heard about them changing anything. However I think that is good, it will give people a chance to play the game the way it was meant to be played

Putting in the DS also means that it is unlikely Chrono Trigger will be seen on the Virtual Console (actually since Square can re-release most of their best games on a handheld and sell them for $40 + it is unlikely they will release them on the virtual console). If it were a remake similar to what was done with Final Fantasy IV I would consider buying it. IF you want a port seriously just pick up the Playstation port on Ebay for about the same price. It's full screen and comes with those kick-ass cinematics! Edit: Well now I look stupid. It appears that the DS version will include the cutscenes from the playstation port (this was revealed at E3 2008). Also, it is obviously going to use a dual-screen presentation (likely using the second screen as a map if recent RPG releases are to be considered), along with some touch controls (probably for menus and walking), and a 2-4 player multiplayer wireless mode (which is likely to involve minigames). Finally, they are adding a new dungeon to the game (which could be interesting). After my initial upset at the announcement that this will be a port rather than a remake, I guess now that I even have some interest in the title. Another thing to consider is sound. The speakers on the GBA are far worse than the sound that was produced on the SNES, which owners of the FF IV and FF VI GBA releases probably noticed. The DS can produce CD like sound quality which is a must for Mitsuda's legendary soundtrack. So maybe this is really going to be worth it after all. If you missed the PS port of the game I recommend the DS version. If you do own the the PS version then decide whether the bonus material is worth dropping $40 on. Yeah , I feel this is worth getting. If you have never played Chrono Trigger, then this is a must have. Even for those that have played it is worth getting for the new cg (if you never saw it on the PS) and for the new dungeon, which seems to be something that they love to add to there remakes.
Yes I would of like to see it re-done the way that the new FF IV was on the DS, but this is a very welcome addtion to any hardcore RPG fans wish list. (Now where is my FF VI remake on the DS ).Also on a side note, I am happy that they did move it to the ds, like Eriktheguy said, the music to this game is amazing, and the GBA just would of not of shown that.

That's highly doubtful, since Chrono Trigger only appeals to a small number of fans, and since the sales are already so high that they are limited by supply. The DS release will see high sales because a lot of people own a DS. The DS won't see a significant increase in sales from a Chrono Trigger port. |
