Are you happy with the DS?
Ok, So are you guys overall happy with the DS? Or would you have wanted a better looking Gameboy. I'm actually pretty happy with the DS. The touch screen really isn't over used like the Wii's motion controls. The next handheld I would like to see from Nintendo would be a hi def DS 2 with analog sticks. A lot like the PSP but with a touch screen. What are your guys thoughts on the DS?

I'm happy with my DS. In my opinion the online works loads better on it than on the Wii. I think there are a plethora of games on it (alot of third party support) whether they are made by Nintendo or not. And yes I do agree the touch screen is not overused and for the better. Things have slowed down for it but there is still much vitality left in it and I can't wait to see what the next big game for it will be.

I like the DS...probably in my opinion the best handheld on the market for gameplay. I mean the PSP is a multimedia junkie but if you want good games the DS is the way to go.
I would probably say for the next handheld it wouldn't have to have the touch screen but depending on how they use that feature it may be a good option.

I love my DS I have a more games for it then my PS3 and 360 currently. I don't use the touch screen if I don't have too. I like it in games when I must use and such I'd just rather hit buttons than have to play around with the stylus 90% of the time when I'm thinking about what next to do the stylus is just sitting in my mouth getting chewed.

The DS currently seems to have a better software base than any of the this Gen consoles or handhelds. I would say the only system that competes with it in number of quality games is the 360, and that's only if you are into the genres that dominate that platform.
Currently games I have played and loved on the DS are Pokemon Diamond Starfox Command Kirby Canvas Curse Phantom Hourglass Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow Castlevania: The other one Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker Final Fantasy IV Also good were Children of Mana Kirby Squeek Squad Ninja Gaiden So far the number of very high quality titles on the DS is more than I care to spend money on, which means that the console is not a limiting factor on my entertainment. If you compare this to the Wii (also a great console, but not nearly as many great games) I can say that I am happier with my DS than I am with my Wii. Also, the 1-2 hours I spend on a bus daily (to get to school) assure that I will spend more on DS games than any others. I'm certain that my Wii, PS2 and DS will keep me more than entertained for the rest of this videogaming generation. |

I love my DS, first off. However has anyone played the games now available for the iPhone? I think the next handheld from Nintendo has to have motion controls. I have an iPhone and I end up playing with it more than my DS for the simple reason that I always have my phone in my pocket.
but this brings me to ask: Do you think the new wave in games is to have them all be software based, without having to put in a cartridge or disc?

i doubt it, atleast from nintendo. you know how exspenive that would be, nintendo always trys to be cheaper than the other handhelds. its unlikely. but a neat idea. i dont think we will ever see a hardrive in the ds.
id like to see a ds set up like the wii with chanells and stuff. maybe handheld miis. just ideas.
