In the tower in world 1, you can go in the room with all the moving blocks around the edges and right next to the star coin, there's a spot were the blocks don't go. You can go in there, break the blocks in the room as Shell Mario, and get the red flag.
ps: This unlocks a cannon to World 5.

The purpose of this game was to go back to basic side-scrolling action. As great as Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine were, nothing beats Super Mario World and Super Mario 3. There is just something about it that makes it great.

I guess I'm one of the only people who was disappointed with it.
There was little in it that couldn't have been done on the GBA using pre-renderred sprites - it's not as if the view changes! Not only that it looks like most of the enemies are pre-rendered anyway. If this had been done in full 3D it would have looked more consistant, and probably would have encouraged them to make it more cartoony instead of going for the current graphics which look like a washed out SM64. It was too much like Super Mario Bros. 1. I would have preferred it to be like SMB3. I really liked in SMB3 the way it had such a unique atmosphere and every level felt different. NSMB feels kind of repetitive and annoying. It doesn't feel as "Epic" as SMB3 did. The whole thing feels a lot like a glorified fan-game, it's similiar to DS Sonic Rush, I think. The bosses were kind of repetitive - in SMB3, you had all the Koopas, in this, you have Bowser Jr. and Bowser. It felt like there was less to do than in SMB3. SMB3 just felt so alive to me, and I preferred the graphical style too. Something about NSMB felt kind of empty and didn't do it for me. It didn't feel like there was a "point" to the game - especially since it didn't even have a real ending. Overall it's a good game but a step back from SMB3 which annoys me. the only thing I didn't like about this game is that you can't save whenever you want. I like to play a little bit at a time so I don't beat the game all in one day. but you have to beat like 3 or 4 levels at a time..but it's still fun
