Wii Shop Disconnects code 209453

I have a Wii hooked to the internet through Wi-fi. Connection works, I've used all the channels successfully, downloaded things etc. However, the Wii Shop channel is an absolute, utter nightmare. I can rarely stay connected longer than 30 seconds without seeing "ERROR CODE: 209453", and I have to start all over. I have also gotten disconnect problems on the Opera browser, but it doesn't seem as severe there.

I have tried different wifi broadcast channels, 4, 6, now it is on channel 1 cause I read that is supposed to help. I have maxed out my router's signal strength - The Wii is in the same room as the router even. I have a DS hooked to the same wireless internet with no problems. Is this STILL a signal strength problem? Is the Wii wireless so utterly crappy that one tiny blip kicks you out?

I'd love to get my hands on the person that designed Wii shop channel. Try to buy Wii points? Enter all your information, credit card #, city, state etc., just to get "ERROR CODE 209453", kicked out and you have to start all over again. IT CAN'T EVEN SAVE YOUR INFO. I go in and it's like a race against time, pressing buttons madly, just to try to finish before I get kicked out - no help. Although I did manage it ONCE, long ago. I even have to race through the game download menus just to try to get to the game I want, before I am kicked out. Totally ridiculous.
