Wi-Fi Connection via LapTop???

Does anyone know if this is possible? I have an old gateway laptop with wifi & a cable modem, but rather than going out and buying a wireless router. i wanted to connect via the laptop. I've opened a channel & the wii connects, but the tests fail? same happens on a friends x360. ant ideas?

Simple. Get the nintendo Wifi USB Conector. That makes it a Wii and DS Router
