It was free for about 6-months after the Wii was released. It's 500 points now.

Depends on the brand, features, etc. I have a real basic logitech keyboard and that was $25 if I remember correctly. I'm going to say the cheapest is $20, but I could be entirely wrong.

totally worth it! Youtube videos in full screen, ahhh... its sooo cool. Its been used FAR more than any of my other channels (besides disc channel)

Keyboard? Im sure u could find a nice 3rd party one somewere for around 30-40 shamaks.

The internet channel uses dated plug-ins.

I finally got my Wii on the net a day or two ago and downloaded the browser (I'm using it right now, actually), and it works pretty well. Reading webpages on a standard definition television is a bit tricky since the resolution isn't high enough to render small fonts well, but the zoom feature works well enough even if you do have to scroll around a bit to read things.

YouTube videos work great, and I can make them full-screen with the zoom feature, which is pretty cool. My kids get a real kick out of it because they can ask me for any ol' random thing, and chances are I can find a video about it! I was, however, disappointed to find that other flash videos do not work. For example, the Dr. Mario RX promo on the WiiSpace front-page doesn't work properly. I get sound but no video. I've had similar experiences with other Flash videos. For general websurfing, however, the Wii Browser works fine.

Oh, and I'd definitely recommend a wireless keyboard of some sort. I picked up a Microsoft Wireless Optical Decktop 1000 for about $40 today ($10 in-store rebate) plus I have a $10 mail-in rebate, so it comes to about $30, which isn't bad, and it works great. Not to mention it makes typing a whole lot easier! You can get by with Wii Remote for short messages, but I'd never be able to type a relatively lengthy post like this one without a keyboard. Well, I could, but I really wouldn't want to.

So all in all a thumbs up from me.
