There seems to be allot of ignorance surrounding homebrew.

Homebrew is NOT all about emulation. There are allot of great homebrew apps that have nothing to do with pirating at all (like a super awesome program that allows you to control your pc from your DS).

The homebrew channel itself does nothing but alow you to run homebrew apps... Which can be anything from a media player (movies or mp3s), to homebrew games, and yes even emulators (but thats all up to the user). Installing the homebrew channel is not detrimental to your wii at all. I myself have it installed (though I never use it), and I have installed firmware updates and downloaded this and that from nintendo, and have not had a single problem. And if you ever do install it and are afraid of something happening, the channel is very easy to remove prior to running any updates.

I wouldnt worry about it... I dont see how you did anything wrong by asking the question you asked. You asked about the homebrew channel, you didnt ask where you could download emulators or roms or anything like that. The homebrew channel is NOT an emulator, is NOT a pirating tool, and is NOT in and of itself in any way a violation of any kind of copyright laws.

People that claim the channel is an emulator, or is only good for pirating are only spreading ignorance.


If this thread does in some way break forum rules I would just let a moderator take care of it, and not give it any thought.

Homebrew doesn't always mean emulators and ROMs... Homebrew channels hack the Wii, which is a no-no on this forum. End of discussion.
