Emulation/Piracy

The topics of emulation and piracy, including the technical nature of emulators and ROM images, hardware modification technology, as well as their effect on the industry as a political topic are deemed to be generally acceptable.

However, linking to pirate download sites, directions on how to get pirated software to work, reviews or impressions of pirated software are NOT acceptable and will all result in the banning of the user in question
I really dont think this thread breaks any rules.

The forum rules states that questions regarding how to get pirated software to work is unacceptable.

Read it.

I did... Thats where that little blurb just above your last post came from. By what that says, I think this thread is clear.... Is it not?

Now thats just silly... Pirating is copying/trading copy righted material... "Hacking" or better defined as "modding" (as we are talking in this subject) is the altering of hardware that one has already obtained legally and by all rights can do with it whatever they see fit. Sure, it may void your warranty if you choose to install the homebrew channel, or add an extra LED light to your wii-mote, or do some other stupid thing like that. But it breaks no laws and is not pirating.

Now see, by those rules I think this thread is in the green... We arent providing links to rom sites, or emulator sites... We arent even really talking about how to install the homebrew channel (which isnt even technically covered in those rules), just discussing if its a good idea TO install it. At least, I think that was the original question... Kind of got railroaded early, and now he went back and modified his question.
