Wii outsells gamecube by far

I've read articles that question the accuracy of ~~~ data, sometimes, but generally speaking they can be relied upon. Which is what makes it so interesting that an article on ~~~ points out that the Wii has just passed the lifetime sales record of the Nintendo Gamecube. Throughout the years of its existence, the Gamecubesold 21.545 million units. The Wii, out for a little more than a year, passed 21.490 million units as of February 9th, 2008. Selling at a rate in the hundreds of thousands of units per week, the Wii has most likely broken a curse that's plagued Nintendo since the launch of the SuperNES - a consistently shrinking hardware base. Every console that Nintendo has launched since the NES has attracted less buyers than the console before it. SuperNES sold less than the NES. N64 sold less than the SuperNES. Same with the Gamecube. Not only has the Nintendo Wii blown by this record, it's on its way to being the best selling game console of all time, a title currently held by the Playstation 2. There's still a long way to go before that happens, though.

Oh really?cool!I feel sorry for the game cube though.It just didn't get enough third party support.>.<

yeah, if they made the Gamecube with as much care as they did the wii, then the Gamecube would have been a great system

I agree they gamecube had good tech,(though it lacked online play with the exclusion of a single game)but it had the potential to be a great system!It was doing great at first but idk what happened after that.T.T

Way to go Wii. Right now Nintendo is really on there game, the best selling handheld and the best selling system that is out right now.

I feel sorry for the gamecube. I have to admit that i did not get one until it came packaged with Mario Kart DD Then I really did not start playing it a lot until the RE4 came out on it. Harvest Moon MM and Fire Emblem were among the very few gamecube games I ever got into.

I really think what hurt the gamecube was the lack of online play (which has already been said), but its true. The power it had was fine and it could put out nice games, but they need some online play to go with it. The Wii has turn that around.

yeah, the only games I really got into were the lord of the rings games, the need for speed games, and soulcaliber.

LoZ:WW was the greatest GC game. Actually, it was the main reason I got a GC.
