building an ultimate computer

i was thinking about building an ultimate computer

good mother board
nice video card
BD-ROM
nice cooler
big hard drive
like 4GB RAM
nice widescreen monitor

what u guys think i know it would cost a lot

so what is this thread? are you asking for sugguestions? if so give us your budget.

oh and dont get 4Gb of ram..thats very wasteful...very future proof but your computer would not use no way near all that now.

im gonna spend 3 grand at max this isnt till later this year but just lookin for ideas

you can get a good one forless then 1500
with your big hd
just get like 2 gb of ram you dont need 4 gb

well i want one that can play games cuz i was looking at PC games at walmart i was like huh this game is $20 bucks for windows and i payed $60 for it on 360

A little behind on this but....I just built a computer that is pretty darn nice and it only cost $1300 (plus $300 for a 22 inch monitor). The highlights are:

Intel Quad core 2.4 GHz with big 'ol Zalman fan/heatsink
2 GB 1066 RAM (clocked at 800 b/c they don't get along with my MoBo)
GeForce 8800 GTS 320 MB
Running Vista

Plus the other components it's pretty sweet and plays any game out there at the highest resolution possible with no problem.
