LittleBigPlanet fills up Blu-ray disc

Anybody who thought that the PSN-friendly nature of LittleBigPlanet meant the game could be offered as a downloadable title will probably dash that dream when they find out the game takes up 40GB. In an interview with GI.biz, developer Alex Evans explains the game will be "filling up" the Blu-ray disc.

Evans explains there's a lot of tutorial content in LittleBigPlanet, narrated by Stephen Fry for English audiences. As we've learned in the past from Heavenly Sword and Ratchet, it's the (uncompressed and/or multi-region) audio that takes up a significant amount of space on the Blu-ray. Evans expresses that thanks to the Blu-ray, file size hasn't been a concern. This loose attitude to size for the disc's contents will not be applied to the player-designed content, however, which Evans says is "relatively compact."

Because SONY tells all the devs who make games for them to not compress the audio date in thier games...which obviously not compressing date means it's larger and takes up more room...SONY does this so they can say "this game isn't possible on any other next gen console system because it's so and so gb" they did this when Resistance 1 came out at launch SONY and insomniac were saying "the game isn't possible on the 360 because it's 32gb and the 360 only plays on DVD-9" well what they weren't telling you is that the audio was uncompressed which took up 23GB of information on the disk...so the actual game is only 8.8GB which would fit and work on the 360...but SONY won't tell you that...LittleBigPlanet has Audio directions on the disk in 25 different languages...so My guesstimate is that if they compressed the audio on LBP it would drop from 40GB to around 12 - 15GB still too big for one disk on the 360...but NOWHERE near the 40 GB they claim...
