Resident Evil 5 ditches typewriter save system
Resident Evil 5 ditches typewriter save system :: PlayStation Universe (PSU)
Resident Evil 5 head honcho Jun Takeuchi has confirmed that the Survival Horror sequel will no longer employ the series infamous typewriter save system. Speaking to 1up.com, Takeuchi confirmed that the game would instead utilize a checkpoint/chapter system similar to the one seen in Resident Evil 4. "Actually, I really like typewriters; they're really typical of the Resident Evil series," said Takeuchi. "But this time, the save system will be a combination of checkpoints and chapters." Typewriters have become a staple of the Resident Evil series (among many other things) since their inclusion in original PlayStation classic back in 1996, and required the player to use them in conjunction with ink ribbons in order to save their progress. Elsewhere in the interview, Takeuchi humorously remarked on the idea of including Akuma (famous for an EGM Resident Evil 2 April Fools joke) in a Resident Evil title: "That's a pretty good idea," he said, "Maybe we can make something out of that." Stay tuned for more Resident Evil 5 news from the Tokyo Game Show next week.
