Sonic guide
Finally got around to doing this -_-
Sonic's Character Review This Here is a guide, made none other by myself (Keldrona), with my OWN words(It's going to be slightly unorthadox), this was not plagurised nor stolen from anyone else on the internet, it's all written through my own perspective to how this character works, finally, do i care whether you use this on any other Game faq sites? not really, should you happen too, a little credit would be nice? Anyway's heres your guide! (I apologize for any typo's) Keyword's in blue, Ctrl+F to search the page for keyword's I've broken the guide into 3 pieces: -Summary(Sum~) -Definitions (Def~) -Damage meter (Dmg~) (Sum~) A Sonic summary(Pun intended) Im no good at summary's, hopefully this is understandable.... Sonic is like no other, his sheer speed causes you to tremble in fear of what kind of beating your about to get. What im going to tell you about him may literally blow you away, not really, so before we begin.... Here are some quick stat's on sonic -Fast -Medium Character -Good air -Not alot of KO power -Lower priority -easy to knockout What i'd first like to point out is that, your using sonic because you love all his games right? well hopefully that's not the reason, let's keep his character to serious players only, shall we.....? If your into high speed, fast motion gameplay then sonic's your guy, 70% of his attacks will have you blazing across the stage at a high speed in order to reach your enemy before he can touch the ground, you'll find that most of the time your fighting from the air because of the combo's you'll be pulling off using his variety of spin dash combos, sonic has absoloutly no ranged attacks what so ever, however he has some of the best altitude in brawl, seeing as he can jump twice(very high as well) with the extra boost from your spring pad as well, you shouldnt have a problem with being attacked in the air. Another thing is that when your on the ground, you'll actually have low priority over alot of other characters attacks, you'll find that it's easy to be pulled out of a spin dash if your opponent has any form of projectile weapon or attack, and it's easy to get Knocked out if your hit with a smash. Your going to have to use your brain on this one... So lastly... Sonic is an all around pretty balanced out character, what he makes up for in speed, he lacks in power(sort of...), his attack range is low, he's suited for up close combat. In Brawl sonic is left with nothing but a few spin dashes and a few fancy punch and kicks, sonic is balanced between his air and ground combat (Actually his air is probably his ace, depending on how good his user is). his main innitiative is to get his attack out first, which is easier said then done! His attacks come out at a decent speed, depending on what moves your using, sonic will have little... or very high amounts of lag between his attack's, i'll explain later how to control it though. (Def~) Definitions(They'll be brief) Smashes Up: This attack has sonic spinning up in the air for about 2 seconds, it ensares enemies making them unable to escape until the attack finishes (Great for stopping opponents at the edge/air), it can also be used while running, you'll slide forward collecting anyone into the attack as long as you run into them. Side: Sonic will Punch anyone infront of him, it's got an amazing knockback and KO power, but it give's a long lag after it's been used, good for surprising opponents if you land it after a spring jump cancel, Just as well, it can be aimed upwards or downward's right before the attack is launched. If the enemie's at a low percentage after being hit with this you can hit them with a running spin dash as long as they don't jump out of the way. Down: Sonic rolls around the spot he's standing on in a ball form that pushes enemies back a far deal, it gives a terribly lag between your next attack after it's been used. so don't expect to get in any good combo's after you've used it. Not a very good move in my opinion, but it's good for knocking opponents off the edge or ones who are running in your direction. Nuetral A: A three hit combo, especially good to use if your attack is cancelled by anyone before you can land the running spin dash attack on them. It has only a slight knockback, making it perfect too branch other attacks off of. Dashing Smash(Running Spin dash): One of your most valued attack's, it does 1 of 3 things, it's good for getting a quick hit on the enemy, it can help you get away from any smash attack that's used on the ground, as well as that, it can be branched off into SEVERAL combo's, you'll use this move alot, if your opponent has any quick projectile form of attack, you probably won't get to use it as much. Air Up: you'll do a twin skywards kick, 2 kicks upwards in the air, it's good for keeping enemies off the ground, it has strong Knockout power, so make sure to get in one of these when there near the top of the screen. It has low lag Forwards: You'll do a dive (emerald dive) spinning as well, it traps the opponent in your attack if you get it at the right angle, it has a very high knockback when it fully connect's, it's a good move to use over the edge of a course. It's got medium lag. Backwards: Spinning kick? You'll spin around and do a very strong kick, this is probably the best move you can use when your in the air depending on your play style. it has a tremendous knockback and brings a whole new meaning to the word "combo" if you use the knockback to your advantage. it has little lag. Down: Uh... Momentum kick. You'll Drop to the ground in a diagonal direction with your leg out, this move screams pain for the enemy if it hit's, it's also got some pretty good knockback, however if it's not used right you'll get a long lag between your next movement with it. If you try to land back onto the ground with it immediately after you've been smashed into the air, you'll get almost no distance with it at all(you practically won't even move), making you completely vulnerable. Nuetral A: Spin shield! hey, you've seen this before, haven't you, it has a nastalgic feeling? You'll spin in the air but just for a second, anyone who touch's you will go flying in the opposite direction, it's good for turning the tables on an opponent who's got you in the air, it's also a good combo starter, it's perfect for keeping opponents from recovering if they've been knocked off the stage. it's got absoloutly no lag. Tilts Up: You'll do a spinning kick with both feet up towards the air, it's exactly like captain falcons up smash, it's not a good move to use more then twice but it keeps away any opponent's trying to kick you from the air, such as fox, mario, luigi, or snake. it's got some lag. Side: You'll kick outwards with both feet(horse kick, i would call it a donkey kick, but that's an ugly name) this move will start almost every ground combo you use, it's fast and very unexpected, you can land this on your opponent after a running spin dash, whether it hit's or not. Medium lag. Down: It's a spinning ground kick that goes slightly outward aiming for the opponent's legs, it's a good idea to use this on someone who's running toward's you to try and do a dash attack on you, it slightly brings you forward, so you can repeatedly do this over and over again, it's more of a scare tactic then anything. Minimal lag. Specials Up: Spring jump! Sonic springs into the air! however it makes you vulnerable to any attack's on your way up, you can use any attack's once your finally at the peak of the jump, if you time it right you can do a Momentum kick towards the ground(down A in the air) and use any attack immediately after landing. if you use this move in the air the spring will drop, if it hit's the enemy thy will be interrupted (flinch + some damage) Side: A Spin Charge, Why do i call it that? You can charge this spin up simply by holding the Special button, when you let go, you BURST outward's into the air, but just for a second, you'll land on the ground right afterwards and spin forward! You'll spin at different speeds depending on how long you charged it. you can use this in the air but you wont be able to do anything else until you touch ground again, again... not an ideal move to use unless your aiming for surprise Down: The spin dash. It...it... Feels so familiar...no? You can charge this one up forever by pressing the special button over and over again, it doesn't get any stronger no matter how many times you charge it, however, you can get a slight speed difference out of it if you charge it rapidly for a second. This move will start most of your air combo's Nuetral:Homing attack, like you don't know this one? You'll rise in the air slightly and shoot towards the enemy, it's good for stacking up damage on an enemy, Spin dash --> Jump --> Homing attack. rumor has it that you can launch forward faster by tapping A rapidly or pressing B halfway into the attack. O.o Grabs Up: Sonic uses his quills to send the enemy up into the air, what can we do with this? A spring jump followed by a twin skyward kick(up + A in air) after being thrown up would finish an enemy off if there Percentage was high enough. Forwards: Sonic kick's the enemy forward and into the air, the best grab for starting combo's. Backwards: Sonic backflips, multiple times i may add, and throws the opponent behind him upwards into the air as well. not only does this move look cool, but it's perfect for getting ready to do a spin kick(Side + A in air) on the enemy after he's thrown into the air. Down: Sonic Grinds ontop of the enemy as if starting a spin dash then lets go, the enemy is sent forwards without being launched into the air, it would be wise to use a running spin dash just about now (Dmg~) Damage (Depending on its charge) Smashes Up: 2%-19% Side: 14%-19% Down: 12% -16% Nuetral A: 2%-7% Dashing Smash(spin dash): 4%-6% Air Up: 3%-9% Forwards: 2%-11% Backwards: 9%-13% Down: 7%-8% Nuetral A: 5%-11% Tilts Up: 7%-14% Side: 4%-11% Down: 6% Specials Up: 4% (Must fall ontop of opponent to do damage) Side: 5%-10% Down: 7%-10% (Speed Dependant) Nuetral: 8% Grabs Up: 12% Forwards: 9% Backwards: 8% Down: 5% Item Factors Mushroom: 50% stronger Tiny Mushroom: Weaker Beam sword: Weaker(longer range) + Throwable Fan: Weaker(3x - 4x Faster A moves) + Throwable Home run bat: Stronger (stronger side moves and nuetral A, Slow, Disarmable, One hit KO) + Throwable Lip Stick: Weaker(Leaches enemies HP, Runs out of charge after awhile) + Throwable Star rod: Stronger(LONG range, boosted smash's + projectile attack) Sorry i won't be listing combo's, you can make them up on your own, good day!

By the way rokrin, the pikmin are stronger with a flower on their head. Here is how it goes
When pikmin have a leaf = weakest form When pikmin have a bud = moderate strength When pikmin have a flower = strongest form

I've heard this before, I still don't have solid goods though. Could you tell me how they're enhanced (latch damage, overall damage, range, etc.)? Numbers would be great too if you have them. I've been playing around with this lately, but I haven't really noticed anything when I've observed...

Bowser is a good character, but barely can ever reach a great character. This guide is made to fulfill all of his potential.
Pros and Cons: aren't i open minded Pros: strong character good tilts decent aerials some smashes have advantages floaty Cons:slow, has lag no combos recovery isn't the greatest theres more pros than cons, but his sluggishness is a huge disadvantage. Moveset a neutral (2 slash hits if pressed twice)- used to create space. It hits hits around 10%. dash a (tackle)- It hits them up in the air, so you can try follow up with an aerial. forward tilt (jab)- very useful. It comes out quick and has killing potential at high percentages. It can match Marth's forward smash non-tip. Use it. It is faster than his own forward smash. down tilt (2 ground swipes)- This move can also kill. If there on a ledge you can hit them if they're waiting. Also if timed right you can hit them as they come up. If someone shields, they may tend to let go of the shield after the first hit. up tilt (swipe overhead)- I prefer up smash. up smash is faster and stronger forward smash (jaws action)- Very powerful. Use it when you know you can hit them. down smash (shell rotisserie)- I like this move. It has decent speed. I find it useful. It last longer than a dodge, so even if they do dodge it, they can get hit, but not as powerful. Use your down smash if you know they will roll into you. up smash (pump up the jam)- Use it when they are on top of you. If they dodge it coming down, it has a second part of it. When he slams his body down. Don't use on moves like toon link's down air. Just move to the side and use attack him, b neutral (fire)- This can be used to your advantage or disadvantage. It can add lots of damage and create distance, but characters can go in it and get hit as little as 10 and attack you. Has start up lag, so time it carefully. ![]() sideways b (body slam?)- Can be used for suicide. It can kill characters over 130%,. Use it to if someone guarding the edge and you're recovering. Be careful if you miss, you won't get on the ledge. At low a percent, you can jump forward and hit them with a forward air. *Infinite Jump- Before you land use sideways b and jump. You can do this infinite times, but only over the ground. While in mid-air you can use some aerials, but it is just a little difficult. down b (butt slam)- Never use when they even have a chance of dodging it. It has lag when you land and you will get punished. You can use it then grab on an edge. If you use it on the ground and they are in front of you, you hit them up and slam on them if you surprise them. They can dodge the slam. ![]() up b (fortress spin)- Use it out of the shield instead of grabbing if you want. If you miss, move away from them. You use it to recover. neutral air (spin)- Comes out fast. If they dodge a forward air, you can use this and hit them, unless they drifted away. forward air (air slash)- It can be used the way Marth can, but if you hit someone it has lag when you land. If someone dodges it in air, you can attack again with back, neutral, or forward air before they can dodge again. up air (head smash)- Very strong. Can kill and use it when they are on top of you. Has lag when you land, so don't miss. back air (what that? my shell)- Can kill and comes fast. When dashing you can reverse yourself and instead of doing forward air, you can use the back air. It has lag when you fall on your back. ![]() down air (tre flip)- I use it when don't shield. Even if they shield, when you land it gives an extra hit and furthers them from you. This gives you time to recover from its lag. If they shield it all,you are hit. ![]() grab- any direction. Can't really do much after. Grab-keeping tapping a-when they escape, do your neutral a. If they escape grabs fast, just throw them. Other Stuff When fighting fast characters, use your quick moves. Tilts, air, fire. This will rack up damage so you can kill them. Try to grab on the edge if you're opponent is free falling on to it or if they will try to grab on it. He can be easily chain grabbed. and with that im off. ![]()
