July 22, 2008 - Earlier this year, the Japan-only Club Nintendo thumbed its nose at western gamers by delivering a rather cool Super Famicom classic controller to its lucky members. Datel apparently likes to kick Americans while they're down, as it has recently come to light that the company will soon favor Japanese gamers with another retro-classic controller, this time styled along the lines of the original Nintendo Famicom console.





The Datel controllers will be available in four color schemes beginning on September 10, according to Amazon.com-Japan. Priced at 1,659-Yen, or about $16, the classic controller alternatives are actually a bit cheaper than the official Nintendo Classic Controller, perhaps due to their lack of analog sticks.




Regardless, we'd be pretty stoked to get some Virtual Console action going on with a nice and simple old-school controller. No details on possible American distribution have been revealed, but its not too hard to set up an account on Amazon-Japan either.
