This is pure bull****. $60 for a controller!?

The Wii was meant to be a cheap, easy, fun console. If it's only $50 less than the 360, why are people going to bother? It costs too much for the controller and the games are hardly any cheaper.

If the 360 drops in price any time soon, the Wii is toast. Stupid, stupid move by Nintendo. They should have sold it at a lost if they had to. And the games are still extortionate.

Uh I guess this kid doesnt understand theLogistics of the situation here. The Wii is alot mroe advanced in the style of hardware and controler design. I wouldn't complain about the 250 price tag. What would you have preferred it to be 350 with HD only capability? And the Nunchuck isnt used for every game. The Wii is more advanced in terms of control functionality compared to all the other systems because it makes gamers more active while playing games. Dance Dance Revolution and Guitar hero untill now were really the only 2 games that did what the Wii is doing now. 250 isnt that bad unless you are just going with just an allowance.

I understand prefectly well what's going on. Nintendo are releasing an underpowered console for $250, $50 more than what they released the gamecube for 5 years ago, when it was a top of the range console. Wii Sports probably cost next to nothing to make; and a controller costs $60. So at best, they're charging $15 less for a console that's relatively half as impressive as the Gamecube was in terms of what's under the hood.

Sorry, but the controller just doesn't justify that kind of money. Technically speaking, the PS3 is much better value for money.

okay. but nintendo has been saying from the start that they're not trying to produce the best graphics, or the fastest clocking speed, or the purist raw processing power...they're revolutionizing the way console video games are being played. they've accomplished that (seemingly). so if you're more concerned about getting more for your $ in technical terms, the ps3 will be a better value (heck, a blu-ray player alone costs $999 right now...). but the $250 price tag doesn't seem to be that rough of an increase, considering the renovation of the wii and the recent climb in economy (gas was ~ $1.30 where i live 5 years ago...). i feel like you're comparing apples and oranges, which is fine...as long as you realize that you are.

Rosalie the point is this.

Nintendo already stated that they aren't going for the best of everthing. They want to make this console as easy to use and have fun with as the ones that are being released. But look at it this way. They are putting that 250 on there to try and compete with Sony and Microsoft but if you really wanted to see the price with inflation difference it would be much different. But I wont go into the nit and grime on that. The fact is this Nintendo has always been a Family orentated company and will always be that. All games are now are FPS that you see blood and gore in. And that is what the hardened games wants. But if you are Bringing in a 5 year old into the gaming world you dont want to hand them Halo 2 or resident Evil right off the bat. You want to start them off small. Trust me I know because my little cousin wants to be a big game player and I have never shown him the Halo 2 or resident Evil that I play. I let him play Mario kart and all the games Nintendo has that are Child friendly.

Let me ask you this. Do you want to fill your childs mind with death and killing people for fun. Letting them see you blow peoples heads off? That answer sould be simple. It would be a deffinent No untill they are ready for that. Just reciently I let my 7 year old cousin sit down and play Zelda for the first time because Her father and Myself saw that she was ready for that with the small amount of Violence it has in it.

I know this rant has gotten off topic very bad but if you would like to speak on the price matter more frivatly just contact me on a pm. Anyone is free to do so.

I believe the price is fair because this Console is still family friendly and people of all ages can pick up the Wiimote and play and enjoy the time they play.

But see you're wrong. The Wii is not half as impressive as the GameCube. The Wii is more advanced than any of the current-gen consoles. That's just the facts. Second, it has new techonology incorporated into the controller. Third, is has a bunch of software that it's coming with (WiiConnect24, Wii Channels, etc). Fourth, it's coming with a game bundled. Finally, Nintendo is selling it at a loss, meaning that we're actually getting a great deal here.

The 360 core package is $300, but only an idiot would buy the core. If you get a core, you end up having to get memory cards to save your games, or even go for a HDD. Not to mention that you don't get a wireless controller. In the end, if you get a core you end up paying more than a Premium anyways, so your comparison is a little faulty.

The PS3 is more than double the price than the Wii. Yeah, it's more powerful in terms of raw specs, but is it really worth $600?? Especially if you don't have an HDTV? I don't think so. I really don't see why $250 is a problem. They pretty much have been saying it would be $250 for a while.

Sgt. Chase

I don't see what your little cousin has to do with the price.

I think Nintendo is back. $250 is perfect since you get Wiisports, a remote, and the nunchuck attachment with it. I was watching some videos for Wiisports a bit ago and I gotta say, I think I'm looking forword to playing those games the most. The boxing looks sweet and It's 2 players too. I don't know when I'll be getting a Wii but I definitely will be.

I know that my Cousin didn't have to do anything about the price. But I was trying to point out something to Rosealine that Nintendo doesnt have to be the best but to show what games can be. And if you didnt read the post fully. I said that the rant there was far off topic so don't bother with it. It was just to get a point out that Rosealine might have understood.

What every body that is dissing the Wii is forgetting is a little economic term called INFLATION! whoa... big word, huh... anyways, 250 is a great bargain and it evens out to about what the GCN cost at release, so not only is it the price, but youre also getting a game that has potential to occupy you till you gain enough money to buy a new game, or a classic game. Or, if you want, you could play some gamecube games that will inevitabley go on sale after the wii Wiileases (had to get a pun in there)! Wii love you nintendo!
