Wii Demand for Holidays
Rarely have I seen such complete lack of business sense, planning, market research, and ability to put product on the shelves. There is currently an overwhelming demand for Wii consoles, yet the supplies are exhausted. No retailers have them. The existing supply has been bought up and is being sold on ebay for two and three times retail cost. Nintendo has no product to distribute, and the company is losing millions in potential sales every day. This is creating tremendous ill will towards this product. Some say that it is a Nintendo conspiracy to stir up demand. That is ludicrous. The demand is obviously there. If Nintendo suddenly comes out with nine million units they will look like villains at this point, rather than goofs, which is what they are. What is going on here is one of the biggest underestimations of market demand in history. Nintendo says it is attempting to keep up with the demand, but since the release of this product there has been a historical lack of supply. How would you like these guys running your company?

What I understand unequivocally is that there have been production issues since November of 2006. This is much more than doing better than they expected. Complaints about supplies have been abundant and well do***ented for months. Nintendo has been unable to get its act together in over a year. That is a business disaster in anyone’s book. If there is anyone in their Boardroom who is defending this as doing better than we expected, or as a quality control issue, they should be shown the door.

Well, I can tell you it is no fun at all trying to get one now. Retailers are out. Store clerks are selling the ones they get to their contacts, who then put them on ebay where the standard Wii Console that retails fro $249 is fetching close to $400. Can you say kickback? The stores that do sell them are "bundling". By adding a game or two and an extra control they are selling the bundle for $500-$650+. Gamestop.com will not ensure delivery before Jan 31, 2008. Walmart is selling Wii coupons, and even this will not guarantee a console in the near future. In the meantime, the honest retailers out there will tell you that Nintendo is dry as the desert. Only a couple of consoles trickle in each week, maybe. With demand certain to diminish after the holidays Nintendo has missed the boat big-time...again. If properly prepared, they could have sold millions more units. In the meantime, a countless number of parents will have some explaining to do on Christmas Day because Santa could not come accross with a Wii. Do you think the Board of Directors at Nintendo has a future in the U.S. Congress???

And nintendo was properly prepared for the number they predicted. but that number grew and grew to be much higher the hole time throughout the year. I dont understand your argument....do you think because you cant get a wii easly its because nintendo sucks? No its because the wii is crazy popular and you can only make so many units in a period of time. and yes i do hate the people who buy consoles just to sell them on the internet as that does make the shortage even worse but again they have nothing to do with nintendo so your posts just look like a btch feast.

I agree with all you said. I started looking last week and on my 4th day called Target, he floored me by saying he just got 9 in and I drove over and got the 3rd from the last one, just 9 minutes later after I called.
If you need one keep calling around and get lucky. I guess I should feel lucky, Or I could sell it, for $400 on ebay? Couldn't do it , it's for the kids for x-mas. |

If you can't get a Wii it's not nintendo's fault. it's your own. I'm tired of hearinf these complainers. I was able to get not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 that's right 4 Nintendo Wiis last year. My wife and I camped out at a toys r us for the first two for a presale coupon and sold those babies on Ebay (hey, at launch, thats allowed
) Then on launch day I got my ass up at 3:00 am and went to Target and got a Wii for my Christmas present for my mom to give me. I still needed one for my mom to give to my sister and for 3 weeks I called Wal-mart and stopped by Wal-Mart untill I finally got enough information to show up one morning really early at one and wait. This season should not be any different. If you really want a Wii you have to accept that sales are on fire, that Nintendo doesent own a gazillion Wii factories, and get off your lazy ass and hunt one down. You can do it.

took me till Feb to get mines. And there was still a line. 7:00 in the morning in front of toy'r'us. Lol out of the 20 of us in line i was the third and there was one lady there who wasn't for the WII. Apparently the DS was sold out too. Everywhere she went. lol. Its not nintendo's fault that as soon as they do get their systems into the stores those who have been waiting for it are there in seconds to buy one. Its the funniest and cheapest system in the stores now. PlayStation though I would want one is way too expensive. and Xbox 360 still has some Red eye issues. And downloading virus problems. So what do you expect. Just do like my friends mother did. Go and look where others don't for the Wii. Fingerhut magazine. Random shops you never thought would carry it. Apparently shops that would never have a wii system are selling them just because they are hard to come by.
