IGN: One Million Launch Wiis for North America

shouldn't be too hard to find one for the holiday if you can't afford one at launch...but then again, who knows how popular it will be???

well, not if you consider the population, but you'd also assume that there won't be more than one wii going into the same household...1000000 is a pretty good number...especially considering what the competition is planning on launching.

theres only 299,828,936 people in the US. so 1,000,000 is actually a lot considering that a lot of these ppl are either old or babies.

It really isn't that many people in scale to the us or the world, but the likelyhood of everyone wanting to buy it is such a slight chance that lightning will most liely strike you 10 times in a row before that would happen, besides that though its going throughout the entire united states to almost ALL the stores, and therefore perhaps each store will get 10-30. Im sure many of the stores will sell out pretty quick, especially ones like electronic boutique, and best buy withing the first few days, and because some people are so stupid they wont realize they can buy the wii in other more simplistic less known stores, and therefore in a way they will "sell out" pretty fast even if there not really sold out, and many people will not be able to buy them.

demographics will account for distribution percentage. there will be far fewer wiis giving to stores in, say, idaho, then there will be in new york, regardless of the number of stores.

Agreed, that is also the case, meaning that in some places its also most likely to sell out 10x faster than others, so no everyone will be able to obtain a wii. Like you said in new york it will probably be easier to get a wii, cause there are more there, but it also depends highly on the demand. Cause if in Idaho people want more wii's than new york they will sell out at a much more rapid pace than new york who woudnt sell well, as well as the opposite situation, which is probably what nintendo is expecting.
