Unless it's still in development, and they intend to eventually release it in WiiWare...however, because of the recent interview, this seems unlikely.

then why the hell are they making mario kart with leaderboards, online competions, and chat rooms! it dosen't make any sence to me why they wouldn't do it for ssbb when the are doing it for mario kart. when i first heard about the mario kart channel i got all excited then relized that ssbb wasn't going to have any of that stuff.

Well I sold my Wii a month ago, because I got tired of waiting for them. They do stupid things, like Text chat for MarioKart...what a slap in the face. If they ever decide to properly support online gaming, I might consider buying another one. But for now, I have run out of patience with Nintendo. After 20 years and 5 systems, I have finally run out of patience.
